Now, from my own experimentations; I gave this answer to a friend of mine:
"It's like the Doctor's (Doctor Who)regeneration process, he takes a certain amount of damage or something similar and then needs to regenerate. He is fine as long as this isn't interrupted, but if he takes damage from an enemy again during this process (or if he is stabbed in the back by an ally) then he is dead."
Now, apart from the bit where the Doctor changes physically, this has proven accurate through all my experimentations.
So, is this how you have seen it work? I want to know if it's an accurate answer.
