Just for curiosity, I was thinking about uncensored material (be it sex or violence) in other media, and how its distribution is compared to videogames. For example, to compare the ease of legal access to the uncut version of Hostel: Part 2, and the uncut version of Manhunt 2, I tried the following.

Hostel: Part 2
[ul]
[li]I Went to amazon.com and typed "Hostel 2 Uncut": It offered me an imported DVD from Australia, and a couple of "Unrated" versions.[/li]
[/ul]
Manhunt 2
[ul]
[li]Went to Amazon.com, typed Manhunt 2 uncut: Only M-rated console versions appeared.[/li]
[li]Typed manhunt 2 pc and filtered by "Video games": Gave me only the M-rated version.[/li]
[li]Filtered by "Software", "App & Games", etc... No luck.[/li]
[li]Navigated through Home > Video Games > Digital Games > PC. Opened the list of Brands and clicked in Rockstar Games (which said 28 results): Shows no results at all![/li]
[li]Gave up on amazon.com. Searched in google "manhunt 2 uncut". I click on the first result that takes me to a store: It opened amazon.com, in a page where you can buy the digital AO version of Manhunt 2 (if it isn't censored in your country).[/li]
[/ul]

I went also to rockstargames.com . Navigated to the downloads section and clicked in Games for PC & Mac. Clicked in Manhunt 2. DOWNLOAD NOW FOR PC... with only a link to amazon.com (other games have links to Rockstar Warehouse and Steam).
So, that was kind of fun. What are your thoughts about the ease of access to AO games and how does it compare to other media?

Well... are there even pornographic movies on Amazon? I both googled and searched Amazon, but all that showed up was 'erotic' movies (Not porn, just sexually explicit), and some articles written by women angry that porn shows up on Amazon... but when I check the links they provide, all that shows up is the R-Rated erotic crap.

If Amazon is out measuring stick, then from most accessible to least accessible...

1. Books
2. Sexy Music (Barry White)
3. Dildos and other insertable objects
4. Stuff to insert into
5. Games
6. Movies/Video

In reality, my inquiry started when I remembered how you had to pay a premium over the cable service to be able to watch the Playboy channel. My next thought was: is there something like that in games? Followed by: is anything like that in movies and videos nowadays?

I was planning to search for some classic Leisure Suit Larry games, but they aren't really porn either (and they are rated M). Still, they are on Amazon ;)

So we would need to define what porn games are (which I define as games where the main focus is to narrate or show explicit sex scenes to the player, with gameplay and story being secondary). On my experience, the only porn games I know about exist only in Visual Novels (which can be bought in specializated sites... hey! it was for research purposes!) and in indie games (mostly text based "chose your own adventure" games) from the Weird Part of the Internet (sometimes weird and freaky, but most of times free).

Funny how you got that movie from Australia but Australia will censor pretty much any game with blood and gibbing in it.

Double standards much?

Out of curiosity I looked from Wiki a list of AO rated games and I was really surprised to see Fahrenheit there. I knew that game had a different name in the NA, but never really thought about reasons for it. But now I realized it was because it was the edited version. Fahrenheit is the uncut version. I remember buying that game from the bargain bin of a local super market. So that was quite easy to get.

The Playboy game was also sold everywhere here, though it only has 16 rating here. Only AO games I'm familiar.
