Hi guys, I'm really hoping someone can help me as I really need to get onto my laptop today and get some work done.

I was on the internet earlier on my laptop (Toshiba Satellite Pro running XP) and everything suddenly started acting weird and I couldn't type. It took me a little while to realise what was going on but the computer seemed to think the Ctrl key was being pressed.

I tried checking the virtual keyboard and it didn't show the Ctrl key as being pressed. I decided to try resetting the machine. Big mistake!

I'm currently sat typing this on my Mum's laptop as I can't access my area on mine because it STILL thinks I'm pressing the Ctrl key. WTF!? What do I do to sort this?

Help me escapist forums.. You're my only hope!

You might have to just pop the key off the keyboard. See if anything is stuck under it.

Last resort: remove (or loosen) the ctrl key (preferably with a Phillip's head screwdriver.)

Simply, place it under
???
PROFIT!

My laptop page down key became stuck once. Most annoying thing ever.

I suppose first you should try and pull it apart and see if something is caught or the key is jammed on.

In the end I downloaded key tweak and disabled my page down. I don't even need a page down. I don't even care. It's a keyboard remapper but you can also disable keys.

At least you have two Ctrls right?

Sorry then, that was really my only suggestion. Hope you manage to fix it.

You might actually have that thing switched on where you need to hold down a key for a certain amount of time before it registers. That happened to me once, I think it's activated by holding 'shift' for 8 seconds.

Fapping to close to the computer will do that ¬_¬

Yeah I'd just pop it off, you have two ctrl keys.....well I do anyways.

you might still want to take it apart and look at the actual board part of the keyboard see if there is something that is shorting the switch out under the ctrl key

Stop watching porn at night.

But seriously, just take out the key and clean under it. Just a matter of popping it off and wiping it down.
