Hey guys not sure where to post this....my dads computer monitor has packed in....the computer runs pretty well for what it is so not getting a new one but its old. Uses a Sapphire Radeon X300SE 128mb im not sure if it could drive a 20"+ monitor..... Any ideas? Help?

Yeah will be fine with pretty much any monitor with compatible display ports. (DVI, VGA, etc) max res for stuff like a desktop in 2d is well above 1080 or 1440

Maximum resolution for single-link DVI and VGA is 1920x1200, and HDMI is 1920x1080. I don't know how much memory Windows XP/7 requires for desktop usage, but it's not a whole lot.
