I woke up this morning to find my computer containing this error message:

CD Rom Boot Priority....No Medium
Reboot and Select proper boot device
or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key

I have restarted the computer, tried to change some settings, but it just keeps going back to this screen. From my knowledge, this is a hard drive crash, caused by a apparent numerous problems, but none of them really fit the problem.

So I have 3 questions:

What causes hard drive crashes?
What exactly happens when a crash happens? (Loss of all files I presume)
Is there a way for me to fix it myself, or will I have to turn it into a repair shop?

You've gone into the BIOS settings at start-up and set the HDD boot-priority to being the first?

If you have, I suggest you check the condition of the connections inside the computer itself. If they are fine, you're most likely correct.

As for your questions, I'll leave them to someone else.

Don't know if this is of importance, but the CPU and System Temperature stay at at about 105 and 114 Farenheit respectivly.

Also, how exactly would I change the HDD boot Priority to first?

EDIT: I disabled 1st Boot Priority and it removed the CD Rom Boot Priority Error, but the rest of the error message remains.

EDIT 2: I can't seem to change the HDD priority to first, although it mentions it when I highlight 'Advanced BIOS Settings'.

Any more help would be apperciated. I have tried another method, but for some reason, HDD won't appear on the boot priority list. I can't seem to find the CD that mainly fixes the problem.

I'll try to find the CD some more, but if anyone knows more methods, let me know.

Usually, priority changes are done using the + and - keys.

If you can't set the HDD to priority, then the PC can't see your hard drives. Check the connections, switch the Hard drive port.

Those temps, by the way, are acceptable

Im not exactly very savvy on this, but how would I go about checking the connections? This is the first time I have had this problem, so sorry for the questions.

Sounds like a dead drive. Are there clicking or clunking sounds coming out of the hard disk drive? If there is, you can do nothing about it. You need to replace it.

If there is none. The only thing you can do is to check whether the connections are good. Look for two cables attached to the drive and attached it firmly.

Where would the cables be located? Back of computer or inside the computer?

There isn't any sounds emitting from the drive btw.

inside the computer just make sure all the cables look ok and away from anything that might cause a problem then make sure the connectors are seated properly

btw if this is a dead hard drive good luck getting a new operating system
