Ok, I've made previous computer posts before. I'm building my own gaming computer. Through research, price comparing, etc. I have all the parts I need (even a cool tool kit). After looking at what my components came with (The motherboard and GPU came with driver CDs), a question arises: Do I install the Driver CDs before the OS (Windows 7 Home Premium)? Is that even possible?

Nope OS first. Then drivers. Then updates. Then games. Then updates for the games. <--- These are the proper channels (besides getting firefox so you can get on The Escapist).

Nice man!
For your first time you're clearly prepared.

Best of luck, Let us know how it turns out :D
We'll be here if you have any questions.

And of course, welcome to the world of PC gaming! (Unless of course you've been PC gaming for a long time and it's just your first computer building!).

@AC10 Yes. I've done my research. But still I have the queesies that I've overlooked something...I've gone over everything in my head and it all fits...it's just that naggy naggy annoying "murphy's law" syndrome. Damn I hope I didn't just jinx myself.

I've actually come to my fellow Escapists for lots of advice-and more than half of it was useful! They've helped me through 3 versions of my build, refining, etc.

I'm not really new to PC gaming, but definitely have not been doing as long as most people. Building PCs is brand spankin' new however. Very daunting. For people who want to build PCs, but don't know where to begin, I suggest taking an entry level 100 course at your local community college-that's where I started.

This all started because I got fed up with my laptop making StarCraft 2 run super slow.

I agree, it can be VERY scary the first time. However, you just have to take that leap sometimes ;)

You can rest easy knowing that with modern machines it's nearly impossible to screw up so badly you'll damage anything. Hell, I bet you could drop a CPU on the floor and it would still be fine. Not recommended of course, but you can catch your breath knowing all your expensive hardware will be safe :)
