Computer protection software doesn't let me play certain games.

So recently my computer protection software (Norton) has labeled some executables of games (mostly from steam) as Trojan Viruses. Some of them may be but at least a few of the games are from trusted developers who wouldn't ruin their own reputation by destroying the computers of the people trying to play their games (For example "Shante and the Pirates Curse" by Wayforward).

Is their something I can do about this so I can play these games?

You'll often see a pop-up from Norton when you try to run the .exe saying "Norton blocked this program" or something similar. You should be able to click that pop-up and expand to take a closer look at exactly why its happening.

Once at the details, there's nearly always a clickable button/text that says "advanced" or again something similar (sorry, it's been awhile since I've dealt with these messages myself). Open that bad-boy up and you *should* have an option to tell Norton to go fuck itself. It will probably warn you away, but as long as you know there's nothing wrong with the program, feel free to ignore it.

Long term solution would be to go here: https://submit.symantec.com/whitelist/

Here's a forum post on Norton's site with a bit more on an immediate solution though. https://community.norton.com/en/forums/whitelist-file

Edit: Just to be clear... Make absolutely positively 100% sure those are false positives before bypassing Norton's crap. If the games came from anywhere except a legal store front, all bets are off on whether they got fucked with ;)
