When people talk about the best looking people around, I almost always find myself disagreeing with them. I just do not have the same standards of beauty as most of society.

For example, I tend to prefer people that others would consider average, or maybe even sub-average to people that are considered very good looking by modern society. Now, I wouldn't claim that the modern ideal of beauty such as people like Megan Fox are ugly at all, and I'll joke around about them being hot or whatever with my friends when we're having a laugh, but I prefer people that mainstream society would label "average" to people that look like her.

Personally, my idea of beauty is someone who isn't so super skinny as the Hollywood type look. Just, people that look, well, like people. That look real.

What are your conceptions of beauty?

I agree completely with that statement except I do consider Megan Fox to be ugly.

People just have different perceptions of what's attractive but it seems far too many people like the super model or made up Hollywood star look.

As for my conceptions of beauty...well I'm a lot like you OP. I like girls who look like actual people instead of plastic dolls.

Someone who most people would say is "cute" would be someone I go crazy over.

Ugh. People. Beauty DOES NOT refer solely to looks!
<spoiler=Definition from Urban Dictionary>Beautiful is a woman who has a distinctive personality, one who can laugh at anything, including themselves, who is especially kind and caring to others. She is a woman who above all else knows the value of having fun, and not taking life too seriously. She is a woman that you can trust and count on to brighten your day. She is a woman who can inexplicably make you feel really good just by being around her, and yet brings such great sadness when she is gone.

I just don't have any sort of reaction to looking at Megan Fox really. I don't actually get a negative sense by seeing images of her or anything like that. Its sort of like looking at a cardboard cutout really.

edit-

again, if you could double friend on this site...

This is a really good point. I meant physical beauty, but this is all true. Even if I wouldn't normally think anything of a person by their appearance, if I feel they meet the standards you listed they'll seem incredibly beautiful to me.

Beauty is a somewhat subjective type of thing, as everyone is different and there is no defined baseline of beautiful. Anyway, i guess my conceptions of beauty is some one who is a real person (Like most before me have said) I also find the idea of some scantily clad hollywood singer (ie. Brittney Spears) repulsive.
Have a good day/night!

I hate male models. I don't really like big old buff guys. I prefer a kinda doughy guy or a lanky one. Give me a guy that many might mistake for a woman over a Abercrombie & Fitch model any day.

In women, I tend think women that most find cute or pretty (but not really more than average) are really damn sexy.

Its nice to see so many people posting things like that. Seems like the people here aren't as shallow as mainstream society.

Anyway, welcome to the Escapist. Don't go in the basement, and you should be good.

If I like you for who you are, I'll most likely think you're beautiful.

Kinda simple, but hey, I'm a simple guy.

I hate that it looks like she would break her face if she smiled.

She just looks trashy to me.

She looks like if I so much as touched her, I'd have to wash after.

I sort of agree with where you're going there, OP. 'Beauty' only means something to me when I can relate to that person on some level; they have to seem human, and real. Not some artificial, distant, plastic person. They have to have more to them than just a pleasing exterior. People like Megan Fox, well I can see why people say she's hot, and I can even see why people say she's sexy, but I wouldn't agree that she's beautiful.

You can't wash the herpes away. She does look trashy- like she'd bang your uncle at the Christmas party while no one watching.

I don't even really see her as that hot/sexy or whatever. I recognize that she fits the modern standard of "hot" very well, but don't tend to agree with that standard, and therefor don't really agree with her being that good looking in any way.

I don't find her repulsive as many posters seem to though. I just have no response to her.

That's a good mentality. Seems like people with that mindset turn out happier than most.

Looks more like the girl who gets drunk and sleeps with your best friend while you're watching.

Also, she looks more like AIDS.

Maybe some sort of AIDS, herpes, gonorrhea cocktail.

That seems about right.

I've got a... skewed opinion of beauty compared to social norms. I *LOVE* tomboys. Small, slender women with B-cups or smaller, a slight European accent (preferably French or Scandinavian), and dark brown hair. Pretty much the exact opposite of the Hollywood look (y'know, blonde and well-endowed).

There are people who carry extra weight really well, and they can be really beautiful in a different way than a 6', 120 lb. model can manage. And both of them are different than the small, delicate type. None of them look or carry themselves like the lean, graceful athlete.

Even though there are so many ways to be physically attractive, there's only one or two ways to have an attractive personality. A) Be a good person. B) Be a mysterious person.
