Concerning Space Role-Plays

I remember playing a very fun spaceship-based Role-Play on this website once upon a time.
The Role-Play section being what it is means that the most probable access to another RP of that kind would mean generating my own. Since I lack the abilities to make one to my satisfaction, I'm wondering if anyone here knows a decent place to find other like-minded Role-Players on other websites. I'm aware of spacebattles.com but I'm still in the search for alternatives as well.

I greatly enjoy roleplaying, but for some reason my space roleplays never go well. It's just too hard to pretend you're having sex in zero gravity without actually being in zero gravity.

Sadly, the last space-based RP that I can remember is The Cantolia Incident, which I had the pleasure of being in. Sadly, the GM simply seemed to disappear and never got around to doing any other posts, and it died off.

Really, the Role-Play section of the forums could use a damn good revitalizing. Needs more than just God Games and the few still-ongoing RP's, like The Wild Wastelands and Ashlanders. Not just space RP's, but some classic fantasy, or even some old-fashioned supernatural horror.

You can get a plane flying in a parabolic arc, and experience temporary free fall, they use this to train astronauts and to film a pornographic scene.

Seconded. I could certainly jump into a RP again seeing as I have no gaming PC for some time yet but nothing really out there is catching my eye and I'm not going to GM again.

Shame. I think a lack of decent GM's is part of the problem, along with not enough new players. So far, it looks like the Role-Play forums are mainly made up of hardcore regulars now. Needs some fresh newcomers.

I get the feeling it's a chicken and egg problem, for GM's it becomes dispiriting to only pick up five or six players on a new exciting game, knowing that there's a good chance you'll lose half of them within a couple of months anyway. I'm not sure it's something that can be fixed frankly unless the Escapist as a whole picks up, it feels like the decline in RP population has mirrored the decline in the general forum population :-/

I had an idea for a space based role play that was kind of Star Trek like. I was going to have everybody make up two characters, everyone would have a bridge officer and an tactical team member. The captain of the ship and the squad leader would be different players so they could role-play the "what the hell happened down there" scenes. Sadly some of my current role playing group don't like sci fi for some reason so I probably won't be able to put that idea into play.
