We've gone from joystick and a button, to dial, button pad, and roller ball and on into motion sensing. Do you think it would be interesting to see more buttons? It was once suggested by random talk that at the least, two more buttons could fit on a controller. On the rear/bottom (for example a ps3 controller) as lower triggers, rear/center on the 360, or touch sensitive/more buttons on a wii controller. What do you think? Is is stupid to keep trying to add buttons, as someone thought before we had shoulder buttons, or is there change coming in the far future that advances 'motion sticks' and such.

I think the controllers are pretty good as is quite honestly. They have enough buttons for 90% of the games out there and they look sexy.

I like the controllers now, and think they should stop before they become the full motion controlled abominations that we are being told will be awesome.

My ideal controller would essentially be a 360 controller but with 6 face buttons instead of 4 (think Street Fighter style) and a much much better dpad (think SNES).

Could use a a couple more buttons but I wouldn't say it has to happen. As long as traditional controllers aren't replaced by motion gimmicks I'll be happy.

The PS3 controller has 14 buttons and two analog sticks.
I feel that this is more than enough foe most games I have played.

I think there's plenty of buttons right now, though I worry about the whole motion detecting thing that's going on. It really doesn't work that well yet, and soon it'll be on the 360 and PS3, who knows how that'll turn out?

The 360 controller has 13 buttons(that's including clicking the 2 thumbsticks),2 thumbsticks and a d-pad.Do we really need any more than that?

Screw that controller stuff. I want to play Gears of War with a command line interface. I want a seamless integration of intense action and unix.

Maybe they should make the analog sticks usuable as dials, then we'd have everything!

You could twist the 2 analogs to use them as like an etch-a-sketch or somethin.

I'd like the Wii controller, but with more buttons. Not for the motion sensor, but it's basically a joypad split in two and connected by a big string... it's nice to play games and not feel like I'm praying to them, such is the case of most controllers.

Gimme a "H!" Gimme an "olodeck"

that's not really a controller though. As they are, I think the Xbox and Ps3 controllers are pretty much perfect, though personally I think the xbox one is more comfortable...

I don't particularly like the Wii, vanilla, controls. I can't comment on personal experience of motionplus, but from what I hear it'd be great if it was more widely adopted.

It's a UNIX system! I know this! Or are live dinosaurs a little too intense? Maybe there's some way to use the dinosaurs as input devices for games...

More buttons shouldnt really be needed if in-game actions are properly mapped.

The PSP needs another analog stick nub, playing Resistance Retribution is irritating as hell - however a million kudos to the developers because they did the best that they could with the limitations and it does, for the most part, work.

where pretty much where we need to be. The Playstation dual analog was proabley the best controller desgin out there and it shows considering (with exception to the wii) that after it came out all the new systems seem to employ the basic design and or shape, even the game cube controller abandond the straight and flat design of it's past (the n64 controller was not curved) for a more curved hand fitting shape.

I can't see controllers getting much more complex unless there game specific controllers (like for flight sims or such)

It's likely, thanks to the wii, that new controllers will all have some kind of motion control built into them for better or worse.

I think controllers are fine as they are more buttons would be overkill.
It's getting to be less buttons I reckon, what with Nintendo leading the gaming industry...
