Keeping in mind that I own a Vita that I never play because I'm not really a mobile gamer type and also it's kinda bulky and can't be carried in my pockets.

The 3DS is on sale and the price is reasonable.

Sell me on the games. The N64 remakes do appeal and I haven't played a Pokemon game since Fire Red.

I already have Virtue's Last Reward on the Vita.

The problem with the N64 remakes is the price never drops.

Does the 3DS have slots for GBA or GBC games?

Is DOA Dimensions worth money?

Games: Pokemon, Animal Crossing New Leaf, Fire Emblem. All fantastic games and they are the only games I've used my 3DS for and I feel I got my money's worth out of it. I know there are a ton more I need to try plus god know how many interesting releases coming up.

3DS does not have a GBA/ GBC slot, the DS and DS lite have a GBA slot if you are looking for that functionality

Cannot comment on DOA.

I would like to point out that getting a 3DS caused me to sell my Vita because I completely stopped using the thing in favour of my 3DS

If the idea of 3D jiggle physics doesn't sell itself to you, I don't know what to say. I bought DOAD with gusto.

And, I did not buy a 3DS XL for traditional Nintendo franchises like Mario stuff. I bought it for Atlus games:

Plus Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl, Rune Factory 4, Crimson Shroud, Project X Zone, and of course Fire Emblem Awakening. Hopefully Bravely Default sooner than later. Thus if you're into JRPGs, the 3DS should sell itself to you.

But if you're not into JRPGs, then you'd best be into Nintendo's primary franchises like Mario, Zelda, Animal Crossing, Pokemon and such. Otherwise there's no point in buying a 3DS at all.

I don't own one myself, but a roommate owns three (Haven't the slightest idea why). As a big Vita fan, I'm not ashamed to admit that Nintendo's handhelds have a number of titles that I'm interested in. SMT, Castlevania, Fire Emblem, Pokemon, and a few more titles I don't can't find anywhere else.

With that said, it's not enough for me to go out and purchase the system believe it or not. My time is extremely budgeted as it is and that fact is the reason I got rid of my 360 and PS3. I'm an avid PC gamer, and I also try to catch up on my favorite console titles.

It's something you have to ask yourself, put in the personal research yourself. The sum total of our opinions here aren't enough to make it a satisfactory purchase, you need to decide it on your own.

WRONG. Only the DS and DS lite have the GBA slot.

I thought the DSi was the DS Lite. Didn't realise they were different

I'm in the same boat. I really want to play the new Pokemanz, but then i had to find out: NOPE, please give us 250 bucks up front for our Pokemon-Display-Device.

And now i have to find other reasons to buy that thing, because i only own like 1 other game for the normal DS - so that wasnt a total waste of money, yay.

In the end i gonna pay 320 bucks to play 50 hours of pokemon. >.> Still a better offer than paying 70 for 6 hours of .

If you want one of the best Nintendo lineups, you should really get one.

You can store it in you pocket unlike the Vita, and the games on display are some of Nintendo's finest(except 3D Land, which I found to be simply OK, and has turned me off of Nintendo, for at least a while), all of their big games are coming to the system, so if you don't feel like dropping 300 bones for a Wii U(I don't blame you if you do), the 3DS is worth your time.

If you're only going to get 1 or 2 games for it, I would recommend the 2DS.

I owed my friend some money and paid him back today in the form of a 2ds and pokemon x while I got y. We played it for about 3 hours and it is the best pokemon game I'v ever played.

Also trying to get my hands on a copy of Kingdom Hearts D3.

Everyone in this thread so far has listed all of the great games currently available for this system. If that isn't enough to sell you, don't forget also that the Virtual Console has downloads of lots of old Game Boy/Color and NES games.

And not only that, but if the 3DS is in any way like the DS, then consider buying it now an investment. The 3DS library is only going to explode as the years go on. I'd really suggest buying one now while the price is lowered, if you plan to get one at all.

Trust me, you'll have no shortage of awesome games to play in the 3DS's lifetime.

When I first read about the 2DS, I wondered who would buy the thing. Now I am reading all over the internet about people buying the 2DS just to play the new Pokemon on. So I guess it's worth checking out if you are only interested in playing that title, and want the cheapest way to play it: http://www.nintendo.com/3ds/2ds;jsessionid=4511A461ADE617D6EA8E3BAAE796AADA

Personally I recommend the 3DS XL though, I've found it to be a class act and worth every penny so far. Especially when combined with this [http://www.amazon.com/DreamGEAR-Nintendo-3DS-XL-Comfort-Grip/dp/B008XHCLFO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1382058594&sr=8-1&keywords=dreamgear+3ds+xl].

Yeah,I know I am. A 2ds is going to be a great jumping in point for me until holidays roll around and I can try for a 3dsXL. Sounds silly, sure, but the only reason I want a 3DSXL is the screen size.

It's not just for pokemon, though, pokemon's just going to be the first game I get. Rune Factory, Style savvy, Harvest Moons, fire emblem, and a ton of other games are on my get list.

Considering you're asking us to convince you on this purchase, it sounds as though you're probably going to make it anyway at some point.

Feels like you're in the process of convincing yourself.

Sorry, I know this doesn't contribute to the conversation but where is it on sale? I've been strongly considering getting 3DS recently but would very much like to spend as little money as possible, considering I'm unemployed at the moment

Mario & Luigi Dream Team has a level of challenge you'd never see in an RPG. In fact, it's pretty much an 'action' RPG at this point, because if you want to win, you HAVE to get good at the action mechanics. I was really, truly stunned by the richness of challenge.

I've been playing M&L games for half my life, and yet I still got over 40 game overs, and was REELING with pain from the things I had to dodge.

And it's not HARD, let me be clear, it's just that there's so much more challenge than you'd expect, and it's all really good, fun challenge!

In previous games of this series, you dodged either by jumping over an enemy attack, or by deflecting the attack with your hammer. Just one of two moves.

In this one, sometimes you have to move left and right AND jump.
Or aim your hammer in the right position.
Or run down the screen as the enemy chases you.
Or skip all around.

There's loads of challenges the enemies in this game dish out.

The escapist just posted an article about it being on sale on nintendo's estore or something like that. Shouldn't be too far back in the line up of articles.
