So I've just bought some habanero chillis usually I'll use these to make a sauce for pasta and the like but I'm feeling something different is in order. Another thing I do is a roast capsicum based sauce over chicken or ribs, comes up a treat especially when you pack it with some heat. But as I said I'm keen for something new so escapists share any chilli recipe ideas you have, alternatively share with us how much heat you can actually take.

I usually cut 1 or 2 of them up when I make a black bean soup. One thing I would stress is to make sure that you seed the peppers first before chopping them up.

Anyhoo, I throw them into a pot with onions, bell pepper, garlic and carrots for about 6 minutes before adding the soup ingredients themselves. (I use a variation on the Loonyspoons recipe) If I were cooking for myself I might use Chipotles instead.

I would love to use Chillis in a marinade for ribs. My wife would likely not.

Chili's at my place tend to be used as a seasoner (there is a rather wide variance in the spicy tolerance in my family), rather like how salt and pepper is used.

For the most part it stays out of cooking (apart from a teaspoon of chili powder) and gets chopped up and added to a mixture of vinegar, salt and sugar. The mixture preserves the chili's and retains some of the flavor, making it nice to drizzle on practically anything.
