She was running from the police, got tasered in the back, fell and slammed her head into the pavement, and is in the hospital suffering from brain injuries

I can't really feel too bad for her. It takes a special kind of stupid to run from the police AFTER you're already handcuffed. And it really isn't their job to run you down if you run. If I had the tool to stop you from running right now, rather than continuing to chase you for however long, I'd do it too.

actually, that's exactly what their job entails.

that department even explicitly states in their guidelines NOT to use tasers on suspects that are fleeing or in handcuffs, for this very reason.

No real sympathy, a bunch of priors and coke/oxycontin in her system and running from the cops.
Comply with the damn cops and don't complain that you get hurt when you resist arrest.
Apparently she was involved in 2 hit and runs when this occurred....so yea drugged up and driving on the streets, good riddance.

Yeah, using the taser was unnecessary.
However, I can't feel bad for her, as she was clearly already sufficiently brain damaged to try to run from a cop after being handcuffed.

So let me get this straight: You say that if somebody takes a step, that legitimises murdering them?
I'm sorry, what?
Take a step?
Yea, a full out escape/run from police station is not a step.
And it isn't murder, it isn't like he pulled out a gun and unloaded into her skull, it was an unfortunate consequence of him having to detain her.
What if he belly flopped onto her and on the way down she cracked her skull too would you call that murder?

Your News source:
Regardless of the circumstances of this case, WAY too many cops are a bunch of fuckin? pansy fags, or straight dipshits, overreaching for their tasers for a variety of stupid reasons
Wow, that's a totally impartial, mature and respectful tone to take when reporting on the news that a person has tragically been put into a vegetative state. (not slagging the OP for using the source, just, Good gravy, I've never seen such unabashed pigheadedness in what claims to be a news report.)

I mean, I can't defend what the policeman did. He does seem to be unfit for his job (weightwise), and he shouldn't have used the tazer on her, but on the other hand she was drugged up, had one handcuff off, and was heading towards a busy road.

I think he should be disciplined for this, and made to go on some sort of fitness regime, but don't tar all cops with this "Fuck da police" mentality over one incident with several mitigating circumstances.

That's plain stupid to say. You face years and years in prison under barbaric conditions for something as small as drug possesion, the cop they send after you is an obese slob who can never keep up, and you say running is a weird choice?

Running is the only logical choice in that situation.
Resisting arrest, running away from an armed officer of the law who is attempting to keep you immobilized, is the only logical option?
I don't know what kind of logic you subscribe to, but that certainly isn't what I would've done.

Let's replace cop with mugger. That change something? People do stupid, irrational things when they're scared. Doesn't matter who you're running from, the fight or flight response kicks in.

That police officer was a coward, she posed no public danger running away handcuffed and was clearly in grabbing range. His conduct after says it all. Instead of checking to see if she was ok, he told her to lie down - potentially worsening her obvious head injury.

Let's replace cop with rapist. That change something? People do stupid, irrational things when they're scared. Doesn't matter who you're running from.

Telling someone to lie down worsens someone's head injury? Since when?
If you have any injury in the remote head/neck region and paramedic will tell you to to lie down and don't move, because excessive movement can exacerbate the injury.

the policeman was tying to stop her with minimal force which is why he tazed her instead of using his pistol..
no, he was trying to stop her with minimal EFFORT.

even as overweight as he is, he's barely two steps behind her...it wouldn't have taken long to catch up to her and grab her arms, no need to even tackle.

I'd say it does matter a decent bit whom you're running from. If you're running from the law, the law is going to use the methods legally available to the law in order to stop you. If you stay calm, no harm will befall you except for justice. (Granted, justice in the American system is pretty fucked up) You should know this, and not run from the law.
A rapist is different in the sense that he's going to harm you whether you run or not, so you have nothing to lose by attempting to run.

As for your edit to make the post say mugger instead of rapist: Yeah, I'd say you would be pretty stupid to try to run from an armed mugger if he doesn't appear to want to harm you already.
That police officer was a coward, she posed no danger running away and was clearly in grabbing range.
Indeed he was, and I'm not defending his actions. She did appear to barely escape grabbing range before he tazed her, but that wouldn't have been a problem if he wasn't overweight and unfit for his job. All I'm saying is that I have no sympathy for people who get hurt doing clearly idiotic things. By the same token, I have no sympathy for a person who gets themselves killed by attempting to balance on a fifth story balcony while drunk.
