Okay... ive been thinking alot about copyrights and copyright claims. For example: Alot of good youtube videos get removed due to someone copyright claiming music or other stuff used in the video. Some people should REALLY think about what they Copyright Claimed, since some of the videos are like free advertising. So... what are your thoughts on copyrights? and do you know what the borders for this law is? Since ZP used alot of music that could be copyright claimed im kinda interested in what is claimable and what is not.

You can't file a DMCA for somebody using something that isn't copyrighted, but the system is rampantly abused on YouTube.

People file false DMCAs to get a video that they happen to dislike taken down.

A common example of this would be: Prima mirrors a video that Secunda has previously posted and recently taken down. Said video shows Secunda being a colossal idiot. Secunda doesn't like people seeing him/her being an idiot, so to get the video taken down, she files a DMCA complaint through YouTube. YouTube, being too lazy to give a shit and actually look into the matter, goes ahead and deletes the video straight away, even though it was never copyrighted.

You don't understand the nature of copyrights. They were invented with patent systems sometime during the industrial revolution, before large-scale advertising was a glint in some marketer's eye. The main idea was to stop some snooping bastard looking for quick money from scooping up your idea and profiting from it. However, the system is essentially the same nowadays. There's not much logic to it, other than claiming it for your own and flaunting the fact that you were the originator of this masterpiece.

It's all one big mess of egotistical ideas and illogical systems. In terms of YouTube, SOD covers it pretty well.
