Long story short for those allergic to links, scientists in the Antarctic are detecting an unusual amount of cosmic radiation coming from space. They theorize that it's radiation from the explosion of a supernova, but I think we all really know what it is...

Cosmic occurences....

The Antarctic....

A week after the announcement of Guillermo del Toro's partnership with THE James Cameron for an At the Mountains of Madness film.......

Fellow escapians. There is only one possible conclusion.

CTHULU AWAKENS!!!!

Edit: To fellow Lovecraft fans out there, I'm aware that Cthulu currently resides in 4820 Ryleth Lane, but the fact of the matter is that most people have never heard of an Elder One or Yog-Sothoth so I'm sticking with the recognizability of Cthulu himself.

Well it's about time something happened 'round these parts. I'm getting sick of waiting for the zombocalypse - this will have to do.

I wonder if the job of 'Human servamt' is still an option lol. Better that 'human target practice'... I wouldn't mind working for C'thuhlu, so long as he promised some form of either immortality and/or afterlife, i'd follow him anywhere! Just like the loyal dog he'd treat me like :)

Well I guess this'll have to do since Slaanesh isn't showing up anytime soon to make me a damn Noise Marine.

Well we'll see if the stars are right once more soon enough won't we?

Not to be an ass, but technically it's Shoggoths and residual influence from the Elder Things. Or maybe the Mi-go.

Cthulhu is in the Atlantic. Everyone knows that.

Also, Del Toro is directing At the Mountains of Madness?! What sort of dream world am I living in where news THIS GOOD is missed by someone like myself?

His servants are the first to get devoured. Thought you might want to know that before entering the secret cult.

A shame Emily123 isn't around anymore, she'd know if it was a Great Old One.

Hmm, A "At the Mountains of Madness" movie you say? Could be excellent! Or shite, like most Cthulhu Mythos/Lovecraft based movies. With Del Toro directing it, I'm hoping for excellence! ^^

.... Why the hell is everyone obsessed with a monster that some guy wrote about?

Anyway, this could be a good thing or a bad thing, and I certainly hope it is the former.

I had no idea he was lined up to do an At the Mountains of Madness movie. Just yesterday The Escapist had an article implying that he was thinking of getting into videogames... but, how the hell did they miss that news? That is exactly the sort of news that the peoples of this website, myself included, would love to have heard!

Either way, if the OP is correct then it looks like all my years of silently making offerings of the cats that rummage through my dumpster at night to Cthulu are about to pay off!

Ok, question: How are we going to kill Cthulhu, assuming he attacks? He's a semi-immortal being that drives people insane when they even remotely encounter his presence. We're pretty much done for.
