Yesterday A game called Cosmic Star Heroine came and I am loving it so much. It's what I call "good nostalgia". In that it takes all good parts from games people loved as kids and updates them with modern game design sensibilities. Like Shovel Knight for example.

So Cosmic Star Heroine is to 16-bit RPGs as Shovel Knight is to 8-bit Platformers.

I bought it yesterday. I haven't started playing it yet, but it caught my eye a few months ago and when I discovered it was being made by the people who did Cthulhu Saves The World it definitely got my attention.

Damn, this looks like a tricky choice. On the one end, everything about it looks awesome, on the other end, the negative reviews keep mentioning that it's got a serious bug problem.

To quote one:
"This game is amazing, why am I giving it a negative review? Easy..... it is a bug filled mess of a game. And I don't mean random crashes or anything. I mean menus that bug out, getting stuck against walls permanantly, I froze the game because I killed an enemy with poison. It's like they didn't even test the game. So until they fix these bugs (and there are a lot of them) I wouldn't recomend this game."

All in all, I seriously hope this gets fixed, so I can dive right in.

Bug complaints are the best negative review you can get. Bugs can be fixed and they don't always happen to everyone.

I am wary because I just know very little about the game.

True. I've got a huge backlog anyway. I'll just wait until those are fixed and then I'll give it a go.

After finishing hearing the audiobook Will Save The Galaxy For Food, this seems like a perfect candidate to keep my sci-fi mood going.

I'm sad to hear that. I know it doesn't mean much but I haven't experienced any bugs myself. I do hope they get fixed fast because I think this is a game anyone who loved games like Chrono Trigger or Phantasy Star 4 would love.

EDIT: according to their twitter they pushed out a patch to fix bugs.

Looks interesting. Getting some Chrono Trigger and Phantasy Star vibes from it, which is always a good thing, and I rather liked Cthulhu Saves The World.

Still, probably going to wait until a sale drops the price below ?10.
