so i have been plagued by not having enough time to find a job before things changed and i no longer had a home. (i'd explain more but its as simple as my brother kicked me out about two months after i moved in even though i had a job, and when i found a new place to live i had to find a new job yet no one is hiring and its about a month being here and i am getting the feeling i have over stayed my welcome.) so on that note i have to find a way to get from Savannah, GA to Flagstaff, AZ whilst have no money, and thereby no food, water, and only what i can carry on my back as i walk. i have googled the directions to get across the country by walking and it will take 28 days, not including stops and so forth. i cant handle 28 days without a shower let alone food and water. a friend suggested couch surfing and mentioned that if i'm lucky i may even get rides part of the way, I.E. a ride part way to the next stop or something. and i'd be able to at least have water, and a shower. so i figured i'd post on here to see if anyone has a better idea or knows a way to help me. thanks much.

You can't be that broke, you have internet access.

Can you play an instrument? Busking will get you some cash.

Few people eat all their food in food courts. Free meals ahoy. Also ask food stalls when they're closing if they're about to throw any food out. You can eat like a king with no money this way.

Hitchhiking works, try at truck stops if you're male, anywhere else if you're female. Or sneakily hitch a ride on a cargo train (check what it's carrying first ahem). If you really get lucky you might find a truck or train that is going all the way to your destination in one hit.

You're going to Arizona, get some water. It's easy, find a discarded water bottle, fill it up from a public tap, there you go. Try to carry 4 litres at all times.

Take a backpack and remember that a lightweight, waterproof sleeping bag is your best friend.

Good luck.

Assuming the government won't help you out..

Can't you wash yourself in public bathrooms? Or do they cost money or not exist in the U.S.?

Save every small piece of unwanted food from the people you're with now. Does everyone really know how desperate your situation is?

Try being a freegan. Well I guess you don't have much choice at the moment >_<
