Could it be possible?

Could it be possible for Bethesda to take The Elder Scrolls 2: Daggerfall, and remake it with perhaps a new graphics layover? Would Morrowind have a better chance with this instead?

Personally, I would like to see Morrowind remade with a simple graphics layover, whilst keeping the gameplay and variation of objects the same...

Why waste time and money remaking older games?

People complain about a lack of originality in the industry but want older titles to be remade?

No wonder publishers don't know what gamers want.

We don't even know what we want.

Aren't there mods for that already?

As for Daggerfall, I'm not sure how feasible that would be, due to the sheer size of the game world. Seriously, that place is huge. And when I say huge I mean oh my goodnes, that's fucking huge huge. And to say nothing of dungeons, either...though, making "HALTHALTHALT!" a bit less obnoxious would be a rather decent change.

Yeah you have a point there with Daggerfall. But isn't Morrowind smaller than Oblivion in that sense?

Well, these games are darn near classics, and really can't be played using modern tech anymore (at least not without extensive tutoring on how to pleasure talk a Dosbox into playing the damn thing for you). The problem with the lack of originality in the industry is not that the game/genre/etc. is being put out again, it's that it's being put out too badly and too extensively(at least that's what I think). But those games usually don't last very long... Anyway, I'm talking about these games, because A. It's really hard to find good copies for a console, and B. The Dosbox is giving me hell, but that's a story for another time, and other things- I'm rambling again, darnit...

Well the biggest problem with older games, is that the older they are, the harder it is to remake them to a more modern standard.

It means having to use a new engine, then realising that nothing from the old game works on the newer engine, so remaking those things too, and before you know it, you're spending a lot of money, time, and effort that could be used to do something new.

Karutomaru? Is that you?

OT: I don't know if they could just give it a graphical layover, you'd probably have to redo it from scratch. At that point it seems like too much work for not much payoff and you may as well make a new game.

Oh god, it's spreading.
But then again a good company doesn't care about money so they should spend as much time, money and effort as possible porting the old games.

[sup]OH GOD HELP![/sup]

Obviously, they need to port Crysis 2 to the Wii and it is possible with enough time, money and effort.

There is something which greatly enhances the Morrowind graphics: Morrowind Overhaul mod. It doesn't change anything gameplaywise

There's another mod called Morroblivion which allows you to play Morrowind with the Oblivion engine, if I am correct.

And every Elder Scrolls game, including Skyrim.

And the Witcher 2 of course.

Also, they have to keep developing for the Wii until someone makes a game that he scores 9/10

[sub]I KNOW RIGHT![/sub]
That made me laugh more than anything. I asked if he was going to buy a Wii U and he said not until he gives another third party Wii game a 9. I've never heard anything so arbitrary.

Not really. There are already plenty of mods for Morrowind that already give it Oblivion-grade graphics. Hell, some of the people who made those mods were recruited to work on Oblivion. I can only imagine something similar might've happened with Oblivion modders and Skyrim.

Hehe, yeah. Not to mention it's the complete opposite of what someone would normally do.
If the games are bad, moving on to some other platform would be the sensible thing to do.
But waiting for a good game before moving on? It's completely backwards.
haha yeah exactly. 'I have the games I want. Now I won't play them'.

There are mods for Morrowind that make it look something like Oblivion quality.

Bethesda needs to focus on making sure the DLC for Skyrim isn't a crock of shit.
Amen to that. And yeah, the morroblivion project. But that's for the computers, not the consoles... But yeah, I see where you're going...
