99% of those who say they could would not be able to when push comes to shove. it's human nature to preserve life. armies just beat that out of you. let's look at some stats

75% of soldiers never saw the enemy in WW2 and of those 25 that did 8% fired and 5% got confirmed kills. it not as easy as a video game.

on topic. no. unless it was via a grenade/bomb
90% of statistics are made up on the spot :D

I have a tendency to see the weapon in everything, given that a certain friend of mine tends to impose these things on me.

To answer your question...yes i could kill someone but it wouldn't be pleasant nor "cool"

If someone ever even touches me mum, you know what i'll do?

I'll sodamize them with a stick of lit dynamite after bashing their skull in with a gun soaked in gasoline

I'm not normally violent. I'm really not. But I've had enough with injustice in this world.

Commonly known facts about WW2 but that 99% statistic is just slightly off. In the heat of things, humans can kill people quite easily. in cold blood....thats a different story.

If my life was at risk unless I killed then yes I probably could. I do have a lot of held up anger after all.

I think i could, but only if the only other option is the death of myself/those i love. However, I don't think anyone really knows the answer to this question until confronted with such a situation.

If angered enough I probably very well could, both mentally and physically (I'm about 230 pounds and not absurdly fat).

Of course, I'd be in a somewhat primal/pissed-off state or in a special circumstance if I did so, and rationally I would try to avoid killing.

everybody has the instinct to kill.

but "could we?" honestly, not meaning to be sexist or anything, but some men would probably be more willing to kill than some women

that being said, i guess you can also say some women may probably be more inclined to kill than some men..

it's all about the psychology of the individual. (there, i just negated the entire sexism element i previously attempted to remove by negating the sexism element)

if two people were stuck in a room with moving walls, about to be crushed, and for some reason only one was supposed to get out alive (say it's some freaky B-grade horror movie), you'd do whatever the hell you can to be the one to escape. the level of mental damage after doing so, varies from person to person - person A might never get over it, while person B would probably rejoice at his/her successful survival, or see it as something that had to be done, and think nothing of it.

reflecting on myself, i don't know if i'd be able to do it. then again, you only find out what you're capable of when you're in the heat of the moment. on the surface we try to be good, civilised people, but if you take our houses and our supermarkets and our money away, it's all about instinctive survival.

no? well, i tried.

Yes I could, twice over, without even thinking about it. If it's my life on the line, I have no problem killing to preserve it.

Yes, I might feel bad afterwords but when its happening I wouldn't be thinking about that I would be thinking more along the lines of "Oh shit he wants to kill me!".

Having been in the situation, I didn't pull the trigger. In retrospect, I should have. Well, now I know.

I generally try to avoid any hostile situations considering I'm shorter and more scrawny than most of my peers, but if the situation was kill or be killed I'd try my best.....OR RUN AS FAST AS I COULD.

Anyone is capable of killing in the right environment and circumstances. Personally, if someone was about to injure me, no matter the intent, I would make an attempt to incapacitate them in the manner appropriate (namely death).

Hmm...

-Human body is squishy and fragile in certain spots, and I know where
-I've always been extremely calm under pressure
-I've taken a straight-up kick to the balls (twice) and still proceeded to win the conflict
-Anyone who threatens me or someone I care about will suffer

Yeah, I think I could do it. I'm physically capable, I know how, and I would have a good enough reason. But like I've said before, no one who doesn't deserve it.

Not unless there was absolutely no other option (incapacitate via leg injury, unconsiousness), I knew that they were very bad people (bad in the eyes of society, because I know this is a gray area), and they were a direct threat to something or someone.
