So about 10 minutes ago, my second set of Apple headphones just started to die. I've only had them since Christmas, and REALLY can't be bothered getting another set, as they're so darn expensive. Sure, they're pretty good quality wise, but they break all the bloody time. I think Apple is deliberately making them unreliable so I have to buy another pair every few months.
Anyway, my point is, is there something that you've bought that you feel the company cheaped out on because people will buy it anyway, or just don't care about the customers?

A good example of this would be the PC version of Modern Warfare 2. What a heap of crap that was...

Also, off topic, can anybody recommend me a good pair of headphones that don't break every time I pick them up that actually sound good?

EDIT: By headphones, I mean the earbud types. Not the in-ear ones.
EDIT2: Ok, the Apple headphones are crappy. I get it.

My friend uses klipsch earphones. Apparently they're a good fit with awesome sound quality as well as being reliable. They were around £50 for him though I don't how uch you're willing to spend.

Thanks, but for that price it would probably end up being cheaper replacing my Apple ones.

I love me some Skullcandies. They might be expensive as all get-out, but they're reliable and last forever.

And as loads of crap go, pretty much anything I buy off Ebay is doomed to arrive at my doorstep cursed with a short life-span.

What defines them as good quality? You've said yourself they are unreliable, and the sound is appalling for their price. The only reason I ever used them is I couldn't find where I had put down my Senns.

If you're looking to invest in some quality reliable headphones take a look into getting some Sennheisers. If you're particularly tough on your headphones check their sports variety. Some of the better sounding headphones and wont cost you an arm and a leg if you look online.

Lmao no.

Apple headphones suck for sound quality.
Fair enough, but all the other ones I've bought for less than 30 bucks have been terrible compared to them.
Really? The $1 Headphones I picked up at a dodgy asian electronic store at the trainstation were better sound the Apple headphones, and they weren't anything to write home about.

Well all heapdhones will suck under 30 bucks...
I got my last pair of Sennheisers for $20 AUD, some of the better sounding headphones I've owned. It really just depends how hard you look.

Shiny, well marketed and/or branded crap will always sell more than functional stuff. C'est la vie.

You just need to find a nice middle ground between overpriced branded stuff and cheap mass-produced stuff. Well known enough to have a reputation for making good products, but not so well known as to be reliant upon their brand for sales.

True, true. Do you have any brand in mind?

Have to Agree with Cry Wolf on Sennheiser stuff. Even the cheap (as in ~$15 equivalent. I'm in Europe) Sennheiser stuff sounds better than the majority of other cheap headphones. (of course, nothing cheap sounds like the stuff that's over $100 or so, but that's a completely different ballgame anyway.)

If they're 15 bucks and are better than Apple headphones, I'm in. Got a name for them?

One pound? Impressive. Hopefully they're available in Australia.
