Okay so the modern Call of Battlefield games generally have you situated in the middle east killing arabs or somewhere else running around shooting brown skinned people or russians. And it's kind of bugging me (and a lot of people on the escapist). Thing is I can't really make up who you should shoot in these games it's not like anyone would accept that Denmark started to conquer the world and you have to stop them.

So my question to you is:
Can you make up some enemy in a modern fps that isn't brown skinned, russian or something else that would count as a minority in the western world.

what about a revolutionary clique of neo nazis starting a civil war in a non-german country, that would be interesting if nothing else.

Aliens.
Demons.
Mutants.
Americans.
Undead.
Robots.
Drop Bears.

It can still be kept as a modern FPS, it just happens to be a modern day when there's a sudden Alien/Demon/Mutant etc. attack.

America is the main villain and your in a coalition of countries against their imperialism.

A surpris invasion of greece by the french and germans to regain control after a violent uprising has installed a brutal dictatorship

or how about an american civil war? (not the actual one but a hypothetical near future one)

those are just 3 ideas where we keep using normal humans with modern technology

Goons with guns, we believe them to be the evilest there ever was... well you did say MMS, that is as complex as the genre allows, otherwise we are talking completely different games.

A religious cult of assassins. Think Iscariot and hellsing from Hellsing but more not on our side.

I'd play a game about an animal uprising(cartoon-y or not) with guns

A Private Military Company, like Blackwater. The player is a regular soldier escorting an official who uncovers evidence of the murder of civilians and other criminal acts by the PMC. The PMC kills the official and now you have to get out of the city they control and back to your commanding officer to blow the whistle on them.

A game where you fight nature, think like left 4 dead crossed with big game hunt except instead of zombies all the woodland critters want you dead. Rabbits, beavers, mice, birds, frogs, bears, coyotes, spiders, bees, etc. You start out in your neighborhood when animals start attacking as you progress through levels you go to a farm then a forest then a mountain

A coalition of Israeli and Iranian forces who assault the US east coast. Nobody would see that one coming.

I would have suggested something like this.

The city of Detroit, crime has been spiraling out of control. Now it's total anarchy but military action is off the table due to the casualties it would cause. You are a lone CIA operative sent into the city to try to reestablish law and order by recruiting officers, gathering intel and neutralizing local gang leaders who seized control of their own small domains. It reaches a climax at city hall as you battle your way through the largest of the gangs, take out their leader, and establish the dominance of the government over the chaotic city.

You play as a member of a small group of freedom fighters in a country torn apart by a despotic government on one side, and an invading liberating army on the other. You were never particularly happy living under this tyrannical rule, but when another nation's military gets involved and starts making your life even more of a desperate struggle for survival, you take up arms in an effort to simply ensure that you can find somewhere to live in peace.

If you mean 'hostile faction' as in 'who should the United States fight next' then you're looking at it in the wrong way. The problem isn't a lack of enemies to choose from, the problem is you've exhausted all the likely enemies for the protagonists you keep using over and over again.

The Private Military Company is a good idea- and one I've always been interested in is a small scale border war that fought for complete BS reasons. I say that because game invasions are always so tyranical/noble and usually so clear cut, when even in real life the reasons can become petty and complicated.

I'd like to see a Battlefield like game involving a full on war between Australia and New Zealand- started simply because it's inept leaders couldn't agree on some tiny little thing. All the soldiers on both sides know full well and often joke about what a crock of crap the whole exercise is, but they still go at it like troopers, trying to destroy targets you wouldn't expect in a shooter to demoralise the enemy- such as beer breweries, ski resorts, natural landmarks and sport stadiums etc. Expect lots of localised humour, in much the same way as British humour goes into it's movies (for some reason Chicken Run comes to mind).

Another bonus is that both countries use the same just-outdated US tech, so the equipment will be totally balanced, with victors coming down to skill and tactics alone.

Outside that, why not the 5-day war between Russia and Georgia? After all, it did make for a fantastic movie... along with a truly terrible one.
