Seeing as this month has been filled with a crap load of games receiving near perfect or perfect scores, I've been thinking whether or not I'll find them as good as everyone else. With that in mind I've been curious about experiences that other people have had with unmet expectations.

Personally, I struggled to get through AC:Brotherhood. Seeing as how it played almost exactly like AC2, I started to get really bored really fast. 4 hours in I decided simply to rush through the story missions as fast as possible just so i could see the end.

Another was Braid, which for reasons I still cant decipher I simply did not like.

Halo (series).

Maybe it's because I used to be part of the PC Master Race (that'll never get old, no?) or maybe it's because I used to have a N64 with Perfect Dark (and GoldenEye)...

But I've never really enjoyed the series.

Portal
I never understood what the fuss was all about. Played the first one, but didn't think it was very special.

Fallout 3. I just don't like sandbox RPGs, it seems, or else it's just Fallout and maybe Morrowind will please me more...

Final Fantasy XII

I hated seeing the game from Vaan's point of view. He and Penelo the were annoying tag-along kids that no one likes. I also disliked the Licensed Board. You can buy equipment, skills, and spells, but can't use them unless you're "licensed" to do so? A proficiency system would have been better. The more a character uses spells, equipment, and skills the better they become at it.

Kingdom Hearts II

Fight, cut scene, fight, cut scene, fight, cut scene, fight, cut scene, from beginning to end. Playing Half-Life 2 was like a god send after beating Kingdom Hearts II (played it for the first time after beating Kingdom Hearts II).

Final Fantasy X /thread Oh god, so much WHY!?
Same way I think about FF7 (verse) - even when the original FF7 came out I wasn't all that impressed (even the in-game visuals weren't all that 'revolutionary').

To this day I'll cannot grasp how such a mediocre game (bad translation, boring 2D characters, decent - but not revolutionary - graphics, mediocre OST, a battle system that makes everyone the same beyond limit breaks, ect) is considered one of the GREATEST JRPGs of all time.

Team Fortress 2. My friends all say "Oh its an amazing FPS, its colourful and pretty and good and good guns" but they all like CoD so whats that tell you. I actually downloaded it today, played it for an hour and it is shit. The lag is pretty bad (I'm from Canada low ISP speeds) the game is funny... i guess. But the gamemodes don't bring anything for me, and I hate the classes.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

It felt too generic for my taste. Sure it was cool, but the gunplay felt out-dated and good god the boss battles...

Also, who needs a freaking energy bar to do a sneak attack??

- Demons's / Dark Souls -
Believe it or not, there are people who DON'T like absurdly crushing difficulty. Fuck those games.

- Heavy Rain -
And fuck your horrible controls!

Uncharted series.
I don't know why everyone is into this game. The shooting is crap and all you have to do is press the X button to get to point A to B.

The original Bioshock. I didn't really care about its oh-so-deep message (indies the likes of Geneforge wrecked it for me), and if you take that away, it's a stylish "everything trying to kill you" shooter. Not really my thing.
