There have always been more whimsical and silly events, as well as events which are (or appear to be) supernatural. Recently though, they added the ability to define rules for any given play-through, so you can turn the supernatural events on or off. Because of this, I don't think they've felt quite so inhibited with adding crazy stuff to the past few expansions, because some people enjoy that while people who want a more realistic experience can still choose to have one.Frankster said:Hum this looks cool but i'm also somewhat confused. Seems to me there's going to be magic and cults and weird voodoo going around, isn't ck2 supposed to be somewhat realistic?
What can I say? Emilia is a master of conveying emotion in an unsubtle way!Frankster said:Your avatar is rather fitting for the squee![]()
Well, the DLC seems to be about religious orders and sects, there's nothing intrinsically magical about a sect, but as mentioned by another poster above, we'll probably get supernatural events that you can disable in the game rules, but if I had to guess, I'd say most of the content will be about intrigue and secret societies.Frankster said:Hum this looks cool but i'm also somewhat confused. That's one such supernatural event, it came with Sons of Abraham. I hope it'll be expended it with that DLC, especially considering Satanism seems more and more likely to be added. The REAL danger with having your kid be the spawn of Satan is if you have Agnatic-only succession, and that your possessed child is female. All of your heirs will rapidly die one by one, leaving you with a game over unless you go through imprisoning your demonic daughter.Frankster said:I know there are some curious oddities already such as the possibility of giving birth to the spawn of satan (happened in a recent game of mine actually, i was mortified especially as the kid was my ONLY heir, so fuck it, all hail satan!), but i somewhat rationalized that as my character being insane and believing he was posessed by the devil/is the son of the devil rather then it being the truth.
At the moment, I can't really think of anything of anything in the DLC that would be completely unbalance, but then again, Paradox has a terrible habit of pretty releasing their DLCs unbalanced.Catnip1024 said:Looks alright, should be fun once they've balanced it. And, this means that the Reaper's Due should have better discounts in upcoming sales.

I see, fair enough, it's not that i got anything against these mystical events, it's that i honestly never encountered them before (which i suppose says a good thing about the depth of the game?), or rather i always rationalized these mystical events as make belief/superstition.Sonmi said:we'll probably get supernatural events that you can disable in the game rules, but if I had to guess, I'd say most of the content will be about intrigue and secret societies.

They tend to be extremely rare.Frankster said:I see, fair enough, it's not that i got anything against these mystical events, it's that i honestly never encountered them before (which i suppose says a good thing about the depth of the game?), or rather i always rationalized these mystical events as make belief/superstition.
Wait, hold on... WHAT? Bloody hell, I was playing just the other night and that came up. Long chain where my king was pondering his mortality and sent out his most loyal knights in search of a answers, eventually leading to a supposedly undying witch coming to the court and offering my king her services and a shot at immortality.evilthecat said:For example, reapers due added the ability to become immortal, but I've literally never seen it because the event chain in question is rare to begin with, and then has a high chance of failure.

I turned her down because I figured she'd just lead my king into some sort of heresy, plus the piety you got from refusing her was damned nice at a time when I desperately needed it. But if I'd known it might have actually led somewhere...
See, this is why I love CK2, so many possibility. Hopefully I'll get that chance again sometime to see just how well things go. This is also why I don't look up the details of exactly which events are added and what they do, I like being surprised like this.
Pff, there were two new expansion packs for Age of Empire II 16 years after it was releasedStrazdas said:And here i was sitting going to wait till they release all expansions for the game to get it all at once, but no, they have to make more and delay me from playing the game further!
But seriuosly, expansions for 3 year old games, Paradox really is dedicated.
