Magic Orbs

Employer is hung-over. Great. Third day in a row, down the hatch! No more egg-nog or negus (look it up) for him either now! Hopefully he'll be back tomorrow for sure...

Magic Orbs is a puzzle game by ArmorGames. You have probably never heard of it, because it is basically an old favorite of mine. To quote MovieBob, this game is "pretty damn good", just, in my opinion, up to eleven [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/UpToEleven]. For those that missed the definition, see here: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/escape-to-the-movies/954-Surrogates

Magic Orbs' doesn't actually tell us directly any plot or story, so...yeah. I could tell you it, but that would spoil my fun. Oh well, looks like I'm a masochist after all. My idea is that a user of some kind of lone wolf adventurer [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/IworkAlone] that is a user of some kind of arcanum is in a lost temple (with the mandatory magic maze attached) looking for plunder (like every adventurer and their pet/familiar/companion/cohort/hireling). Or, something like that.

Huh? Oh, right, gameplay! This is where I think Magic Orbs really shines. It consists of having your character pick up magic orbs [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin] to progress through a dungeon filled with doors/portals/unstable bits of wall. However, the lone wolf adventurer (let?s just call him Bob [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ptitleh0xcae3o] from now on for the rest of this review) only has two hands, so he can only hold two orbs at time. There are special posts to place these orbs, however, but they can be tricky. Their favorite trick is breaking into unhelpful dust when you use them. Also, the doors not only unlock with certain orbs, some lock with certain orbs. You read that right, my friend. Also, sometimes you need to give up your precious orbs to progress...you get the idea. Oh, and in case you are a COMPLETE masochist, you can go for 5 treasure chests with 5 magic artifacts.

I will say that I have nitpicks, but those are all EASILY overshadowed by the fact the character sprite is inconsistent. Sometimes, it does look like poor Bob's face was fed through a meat grinder and pasted back on. The rest of the stuff isn't even relevant compared to that. It probably won't bother you as much as it did me, but oh dear The Raven Queen did it make my skin crawl. It didn't stop me from getting 100% completion though, so you should be fine.

Merry 5th day of Christmas, everyone!
