Hi guys,

Seeing as how the Picroma forums are down, I figured a good place to share this info would be the Escapist. In spite of Wollay's server woes, I've been lucky enough to obtain an alpha copy of Cube World and I've been playing with Joypad mappings for my old Playstation 2 controller.

At the end of the post I'll include the info needed for the Joytokey mappings. Oh and for those of you who don't know; Joytokey is shareware software that allows you to set keybinds for HID peripherals

The Joypad binds are as follows...

The left analogue stick, controls movement and the right stick controls the camera. Regarding Cube World's camera sensitivity option; I found it best to set it quite low. Although I used max sensitivity while I was still using a mouse - I found that a joypad necessitated settings as low as 30%. Experiment and see what suits you best :)

Another thing worth considering is that the camera will now auto centre itself, and as such you probably need to be zoomed in very close for accurate targeting. I find that zooming into first person and then backing out just a tad, works nicely - as it's nice (and at times necessary) to retain the 3rd person view. A nice side effect is that the "over the shoulder" approach also means you can enter buildings without having to change your zoom!

D-pad
Up = inventory (B)
Down = crafting menu (C)
Left = skills (X)
Right = world map (M)

LB1 = LMB
RB1 = RMB
LB2 = pick up (E)
RB2 = interact (R)
Circle = 1 (mage AoE skill)
Triangle = 2 (mage mana shield)
Square = health pot (Q)
X = jump (space)
LB3 = climb (Ctrl)
RB3 = dodge (MMB)
Select = hanglider (G)
Start = 3 (mage teleport)

Not sure what I'm going to do once I acquire more skills, but I guess I might have to shuffle things about to allow for a modifier key. Things like map zooming and inventory juggling seem best left to the mouse and keys, but for general gameplay I find the joypad to be a lot more comfortable and tons of fun. Hmm, Perhaps I should get an N64 controller - Ocarina of Time anyone?

Anyway config info follows...

#Simply paste the txt below into notepad and save as "CubeWorld.cfg" no quote marks.
#You can then drop that cfg file into the main Joytokey folder

EDIT:

As a side note; in Joytokey you will need to look in the tab labeled "Others" and make the following changes. Set the "number of joysticks" to 1. Check the box marked "use axes other than X and Y" and also check the box labeled "Use POV switches".

I believe the "number of joysticks" thing has caused a number of people to mistakenly believe that joytokey doesn't work properly, but setting it to "1" fixed all my problems - hopefully that rule will abide :)
