Because I was really rather worried that someone I had crossed had decided to go completely batshit-bonker-bozo on my behind.

OT: Haven't had that glitch. Closest I got was a sudden flood of messages which I quickly realised was the chat room of a group I joined.

There are quite a few ways to fill your inbox with false hopes and dreams.
One of the more reliable methods is to join a very active user group and keep all notifications on.

Several times it's happened to me, though never as much as 5001, the most I've "had" was about 2000. The Escapist hamsters must have made a real blooper this time 0.o

I've had the same glitch happen a couple of weeks ago.

I refreshed a page and, Bam!, 5001 messages. I initially thought that it had registered all of my messages as new ones, but it turns out that it was just a glitch and none of the messages had changed at all.

So, that is good, I guess.

My first thought was that the community had finally decided to name me emperor of the world and that these messages were congratulatory.
