Yes I'm going to address all the hating the Latest game by EA and Visceral Games Dante's Inferno and offer my opinion on the hate that has been lashed towards it.

Really i think that it is all arbitrarilly stupid and utterly pointless. The biggest thing i keep hearing is "ooo its just God of War" and while i can agree that it does a lot things God of War has done i still have to say GET OFF THE I LOVE KRATOS BANDWAGON and actually play the whole game. Also having read the original book by Dante Aligheri i know what parts they've changed and parts that have been taken out, but when i saw this game i went into it knowing that it wouldn't be the exact adaptation of the story. Nothing is ever going to be perfect and the same applies here EA wanted to make the game sell and having Dante being a poet who faints after every time he leaves one circle of hell and being a griever of sorts wouldn't make them money so in a sense they had to modernize the work and make him the way he is.

So to summarize this all up:

Stop bowing down to Kratos and licking his boots by dismissing this game so quickly and give it an honest chance.

There was. Guy was White-Knighting for DI and saying we couldn't do any better. I lol'd.

OT: I played the demo and thought it was pretty blah. Once you can kill DEATH it makes the whole experience feel rather pointless.

I totally agree with the OP. You should play a game before judging it.

Which is totally what I did.

If they had left it as the original, the gameplay would've consisted largely of QTE's which all pretty much would have been:

PRESS X TO NOT FAINT.

[ I think Kratos wears sandals. Just saying. : ) ]

But fair enough -- I think Dante's Inferno looks generic and OTT on the monster designs, but it's getting some decent reviews. I don't plan to play it, but that's my choice.

Press Q to Abandon All Hope.

Anyway, I hate it because ive been conditioned by reviews to hate it. And its a hack n slash, need I say more?

I also love how he travelled hundreds of miles on horseback from the Holy Land to Italy, in full chain mail armour with 8 yards of cloth sewn into his flesh, carrying a 10-foot long scythe made of bone, and nobody seemed to mind.

That's what really threw me about the demo, that and whenever he calls out for his wife it just sounds like he's screaming "BIIIITCHEEESS?!?!"

I don't think kratos wears boots I think he is a more sandals type of guy.
OT: who cares if its like GoW, do you people have nothing better to do than degrade other peoples hard work?

Whilst it may possibly be a good game, the fact is it differs utterly from the actual Dante's Inferno, an excellent epic poem. The use of the name is nothing but an advertising ploy.

It saddens me to think that kids will now see this soulless and ultimately transitory piece of coding as the real Dante's Inferno instead of the great piece of literature that it bastardizes.

That is why I hate the game.

My personal dislike for this game has nothing to do with Kratos or God of War, but rather with the butchering of the literary work that is Dante's Inferno. While I agree that when a work is adapted from one medium to another it has to change, I find very little in common between the game and the book and I don't see why the game had to be called Dante's Inferno.

In short, regardless of the quality, the game shouldn't bear the name.

its smooth.
but plays the same as Devil May Cry (look, i'm leaving kratos' muddy sandals alone) only without the style.

also agree as above, after you kill death you should be the baddest muther in the universe. why do all these lost soul dudes even bother.

I'm looking forward to playing Dante's Inferno and God of War III. I am also happy that DI is leaning more torwards GoW and not DMC. The GoW side is just about combos and being brutal, where the DMC side relies on 'style'. Just my .02 though.

Also I think DI has a great look to it, and I am curious to see how the different ability trees will effect the gaming.

I'll be getting it tomorrow can't wait. I played the demo and loved it. Yeah, it's like GOW but with a different story and mythology. If the game featured Greek mythology THEN I would agree to the whole "it's nothing but a GOW ripoff.".

I liked it better than God of War. Maybe not because it has better gameplay or art design (which by the way aren't bad at all), but the story was a Hell of a lot (gheghe) more interesting. Or maybe I just can't stand Kratos.

Dante's Inferno is the rare game that offends insiders because of it's crass viral campaigns and it offends hardcore players who don't hang out on the internet by being remarkably similar to God of War in every conceivable way. What I can't figure out is if they actually read anything besides the Wikipedia entry on Dante's Inferno. They show surprising dedication to crafting the levels, but then miss the point of the original work so completely.
