Dante's Inferno is less graphic/violent than Left 4 Dead 2 (Apparently)

I'm sure the other Aussies on this site have been following the hype around Dante's Inferno. Murderous babies, boob demons, demon wang, violence violence violence! Somehow the Australian review board felt that this was fine for an MA15+ rating.

Left 4 Dead 2 was refused classification.

Let that just sink in for a bit. Yeah, that's what I thought too.

Further, God of War 3 has also been given an MA15+ rating. Can anyone explain this to me? Australians get a butchered version of L4D2, and yet neither of these games have been censored. Alien vs Predator (a more violent FPS) was held up and examined, and was almost refused classification, but that decision was reviewed. We're getting that too.

So very much happy news. However, I am confused. What the hell Aussie Classification Board!?

The delicious irony is that the moron Atkinson can't see that kids get far easier access to buying violent games because there's no 18+, so they can just buy it themselves. Those games are getting an 18 or an M everywhere else but there.

Played the demo and within 5 minutes there were triangley, angley tits and pubic hair on show.

When will devs learn that curves are sexy, polygons aren't?

The inconsistency is amazing

plus the Classification board is full of Alzheimers ridden old people, so they don't know what they did with the last review.

I think tis because in L4D2 you are killing humans. Granted, they are zombified, but they are Humans nevertheless, and the environment has a realistic feel about it too. In Dantes Inferno u arent slaughtering humans, and in GoW3 I have no idea what you are killing but its not aiming for the most realistic gaming experience is it?

The Australians thought it was a game about hurrican katrina and in bad taste.

...Wow, I never thought I'd sink that low.

Sword violence leading to gruesome decapitations = fine and dandy.
Gun violence leading to gruesome decapitations = not so fine and dandy.

Umm...

I think i'm a bit lost.

Actually, they are 'infected'. Had they used a different word (like, as you suggested, zombified) I'm almost positive the game wouldn't have been banned. I read something (at the time, from the board) along the lines of "killing of humans infected with a rabies like virus is morally detestable" and thus the banning

So yeah, I'm far more surprised that the veiwing of a womans (it's apparently OK for men to wander around shirtless) bare chest being allowed, and somewhat gobsmacked as to why a penis isn't instantly rejected, I mean, think of the children and how terribly nudity within (or without) a sexual context could harm them [sub]or something[/sub]!?

I'm quite sure that the report from the classification board said that it was the 'high impact violence' that was one of the keys factors in L4D2's result.
None of the games you mentioned are in first person so that must be why they are being let through, that or bribes.
But that still doesn't have anything to do with demon wang though.

It's because in Dante's Inferno you're not killing people. Whereas in Left 4 Dead 2 you're killing...dead people?

Alien vs Predator is not an FPS?
