So I was looking for any suggestions for dating sites that other escapists have found and liked. If the site was also free that would be great.

I can't really (at all) speak from experience but I would imagine that any free dating site is going to have the most amount of sketchy folks signing up. Also, I would think the more well known the site, the more people there will be, so eHarmony or Match.com I suppose. But like I said, not speaking from any experience.

OKCupid is free and it's pretty decent, as in you can actually do stuff without having to pay unlike some others. I don't use it any more for professional reasons, though.

PERSONALLY, Dont bother. They're terrible. every dating site I've tried out of curiosity is filled to the brim with either:

-Single Mums wanting a hubby
-Women with insanely stupid high hopes for the perfect man
-druggos
-sleazy guys who try to take advantage of desperate women
-guys with no personality or taste
-guys who only want to have sex

very rarely will you find a person compatible on those sites, usually its a last resort except most people think they're going to find the hunk/babe of their life in an instant. It doesn't work that way.

Friend tried it, thought she found a nice guy, turned out to be a giant, lazy, selfish twat.

I like this site as well, I actually met quite a few cool people on there (I should note though that I was on the site just looking for friends lol)

In my experience, i've found that looking for a date, and only a date, is the worst way to actually find one. Go out, meet people, be prepared to just be friends with most of them. With enough exposure, you'll eventually bump into somebody worth dating.

I guess it depends on the site and your demographic, my mother initially met her new partner through a dating website. They've been living together for a few years now. Great bloke, though a bit of a communist pinko.

personally I just hate most dating site to my heart contains! Most of them are just blatantly overprice (if you have to pay),you could find that special someone, I think it all about luck, physical appeal, chat/conversion skill and profil goodness. Myself I am the unlucky one of my entourage, my brother been 5 year with her girlfriend found on dating site and have 2 children and a house, my dad also found his love there, my aunt had luck to find love not directly but close enough, it was the friend of a date!

I find it really hard for a normal not super exciting (in a description) to try and lure female to talk to you through a dating site, I am sorry if I don't flash, my genuine quality and strongness of charm are in REAL person, dont ask me to chat for 3 motnh I'm just not good at that!!

I mean how I am supposed to lure a female when most of my fun is with gaming, either it board games or video games, it really scare 99% of the girls. too bad female geek usually are not very flashy too so it hard to see them

You could try PlentyofFish. I tolerate it and did meet my current girlfriend there, so it does work from time to time...

True, but I mostly speak about people aged 18-28 roughly.

I've used plenty of fish and geek2geek. The majority of people that I met online were not what I was looking for, but I eventually found a girl I really like. We've become good friends and things look pretty promising, so I guess I can say online dating has worked for me so far. You just have to go out and look, just beware of all the crazies out there.

OKCupid's okay, if you live in an area with lots of users. But stick to real life. It will make you feel less pathetic and yield better results.
