Anyone play DC Universe Online who prefers Acrobatics over Flight or Super Speed?
I've been checking out the PS3 beta for about a week now, but haven't really played much with the acrobatics movement power. Flying is definitely my favorite, and the super speed is a close second, but I just don't see the advantage of acrobatics when compared to flight or speed.
NDA!! Is the NDA lifted yet? If so, I will answer your question, because I have used all three extensively. If not, I will not answer your question.
The NDA was lifted earlier in the month. On the 7th I think.
Alright then: Acrobatics can fly with the ability "Rocket Assisted Glide" which you can unlock at level 9 as I recall. (been awhile since I played.) Rocket assisted glide is faster than fly, and has only slightly less control. Though it should be noted that Fly players can hover while acrobatics can't. This means that fly players can just go straight up when they need to change gear, while acrobatics and SS players have to find a building to climb/continously run forward, or else they get attacked while doing it.
SS is the fastest, but anyone can attack you as you run past them, and there is no accuracy stat in this game- any attack that is not blocked by something and is within range will hit. This means that as you run past someone with Super Speed, they
will attack you, you will be slowed down, you will be unable to run away, and you will be forced to fight them.
Hence SS can actually take longer to get somewhere than the other powers do, just because you have to fight so many people between A and B. The fastest way to where you are going would probably be to run sideways on the sides of buildings to your destination. On the bright side, SS players get a sweet heal power.
So there you have it: Acrobatics is effectively fastest, as you can fly faster than fly while avoiding enemies, flight can hover (which is actually very useful.), while SS has a heal in their power pool. SS is also the fastest way between A and B assuming there are no enemies around.
