After about three years in limbo, the game Dead Island has a new trailer. A trailer that reminds me of The Walking Dead.

Where's chicago ted when you need him?

I was checking up on this just the other week and I was so glad to see that it was still under development :D

This has the potential to be epic, I hope it doesn't disappoint :3

By the look of the trailer they might be going for a more emotional story and human element o_O Which I hope will pay off ;D

I remember this from a "Look at 2008 Releases!" feature in Gamesmaster. It's been a long time Dead Island. Still looks pretty good.

I've heard a little bit about this game. It's sounds pretty good.
It's been in development for a while now, hasn't it?

So, yeah. I might pick it up when it comes out.
Not sure exactly when it will come out, but I hope it will be soon.

Also: I liked the music in this trailer.
[sub]I just wanted to say that[/sub]

EDIT: *gasp*

So it is scheduled for release this year.
That's awesome!

It's the best trailer for a video game I can remember. Although, obviously, it doesn't nearly represent the game.

Sadly, after reading that, the game sounds hopelessly generic.

I read about this game being in development a few years ago, but now we have a trailer and it looks pretty sweet to say the least.

As interesting as the game may turn out to be, I'm more curious about two things.

1: Are the writers for that trailer/mini-movie the same as the ones that wrote the story for the game. If so, my hopes are exceedingly high for this game. Even when I consider how bland the basic description is of this game's game-play is.

2: Who actually wrote and directed that trailer? Because, God damn was it brilliant. The build up to that ending was fantastic. I keep rewatching it. Gives me chills. We seriously need more people like this to make films.

OMG this may not be the manliest thing to admit too but was anyone else rly moved by that trailer? Its not often a game trailer makes me feel like that! What a horrendous masterpiece! For any disbelievers of the games are art argument i present this trailer!

I remember them talking about 'layered' zombies way back in 2008. Basically, unlike usual enemies, they actually designed their zombies with skin, bone, flesh, etc. and basic force points that can cause damage. So setting a zombie on fire does very little besides distract it because it's just going to burn away the skin, a pickaxe to the brain obviously does more damage then a baseball bat, etc. If they kept that feature I'm in.

It looks like it's going to be a very story driven zombie survival game. That I can play. I don't like zombie games where the only goal is to kill as much zombies as you can. I want something meaningful with emotions and a real story.

I believe they did, in the preview they mentioned when they hit a zombie, they saw underflesh.

Can I just be the voice of dissent in saying that I DON'T want this game?

Or that I'd just never play it.

That little thin line between Escapism and Simulation is bending; and I'd rather stay in a place where I know it's not real.

That is simply a really great trailer! It's a great step away from the 'immature' games industry stereotype which permeates media.

Kudos.
