Dead Rising 2 question *May contain spoiler*

Hey guys I am on the Breach mission in Dead Rising where the zombies have broken into the bunker and I can gather all 3 items with plenty of time. My problem though is hacking the terminal, HOW DO YOU DO IT? I'm so confused as I'm in a bit of a hairy situation. I didn't save it for awhile and as a result I'm doing this mission with 2 hp bars so I can only attempt to hack the terminal once before it zaps and kills me.

Edit: I keep tapping the space bar but the voltage meter never moves, what am I doing wrong?

Try to look for some food at the cafeteria.

I never played the pc version so I don't know what your doing wrong.
The door is not supposed to be closed at your first attempt but the meter should move a little bit.
