So here's the DS3 demo, with commentary by the Game Grumps. You can pretty much throw any hopes you had for survival horror out the window and accept that it is just Call of The Thing. But John and Arin make it hilarious at least. Gone are the tight, cramped corridors for large arenas to have giant gunfights with the necromorphs.

Also has guest appearances by whimsical birds.

Honestly though, this is just sad to watch. It's Gears of War crossed with Killzone 3 with Dead Space slapped on top.

Wow, I'm glad that someone posted this here for me to see. Good thing YouTube doesn't have some sort of subscribing feature that allows videos uploaded by people to be given precedence on the main page.

Yeah, definitely looked a lot more action-focused than the previous Dead Space games, but I think the enemies are still sufficiently WTF-inspiring. Not that it made me interested in buying the game, since I never finished either of the previous two...

1. Some people don't actually use all of those functions of Youtube, even for shows they follow regularly.

2. Some people like to have discussion about things without the plethora of Youtube comments going "YOU GUYS ARE SELLOUTS, I'M UNSUBBING!" Especially when the thing in question is a video game and it's on a website based mostly around video games.

Good thing we don't have people here that spout attempted smart arse comments that make them look like an absolute muppet.

Some of us don't subscribe to youtube channels.
Some of us don't go actively looking for videos like this.

So yes, it is helpful when people post them so folk who may miss it otherwise can watch.

1. Sounds like some people are really fucking stupid. No, really, I'm being honest here. There's no reason not to subscribe to a channel or series if the option is available to subscribe to it only.

2. What is there to discuss? They did a video about the Dead Space 3 demo. It was a step down for them. Their other videos will no doubt be better.

But is this surprising? The franchise has always been action-focused, with very linear level design, too much ammo, bad plot and no subtlety. Looks like they are starting to be really honest about what type of game they are trying to do: Uncharted-like game with a dark atmosphere.

And I'm not trying to be mean or anything. I think the second game is very good, but it's a very good action game.

You're entitled to your opinion, but I, for one, don't use Youtube often enough to care about subscribing to a channel. So, you know, good on you for insulting me because of that.

Uh... the demo? What our thoughts on the game are? How it may have impacted our decisions related to the game, either positively or negatively? What else are you going to discuss about game trailers and demos? At least this is actual gameplay for once, so people can look at it and say either "Yeah, that looks interesting" or "No, that looks like arse".

I am more interested in the comments to be honest, they are a cesspool of nonstop stupidity and hilarity. As much as the Grumps made me laugh in this episode, all the entitled teenagers spouting, "OMFG GRUMPS ARE SELLOUTS I UNSUBBING FOREVA"! made me laugh harder. Apparently they don't know the definition of "sellouts", and from what I have seen, even if EA did pay them, they both pointed the both good and bad so it's not like they are stroking EA's nether regions for money.

I'm just stating facts. I doesn't take more than a few clicks to subscribe to somebody and lock YouTube into remembering your profile and thus your subscriptions - hey presto, the videos are all there for you.

Also, I didn't insult you: I insulted people who do stupid things. Does that include you?

So, nothing whatsoever relating to the Game Grumps? That's kind of my point - if people want to talk about the Dead Space 3 demo, they can talk about the Dead Space 3 demo. What perplexed me was that the Grumps were brought up with no explanation as to why. I looked around a bit, and most DS3 gameplay seems to be terrible, but the OP didn't mention that at all. Can you really blame me for thinking it was some idiot who felt like sharing his newest OMG SO FUNNY!1!111 video with the internet?

That video was pretty funny and the game certainly looks decent... to me at least

I'm still curious about what the actual premise behind this 3rd installment is though? Alot of this demo seems like it's probably taken from the middle of the game. Is the entire game going to be set on or near this snowy planet? What purpose does the Co op partner guy serve in the story if you choose to play singleplayer? I'm personally intrigued by how differently the game could play from single player to Co op.

...Oh! Is there supposed to be some kind of issue with the Game Grumps phoning it in for the cash or something? Sorry I thought we were talking about Dead Space.

Huh didn't know EA was publishing lost Planet 3...

I feel sorry for John. You can just hear his fandom dying bit by bit throughout this video.

As I recall, Dead space 3 takes two months after Dead space 2, and Issiac has found the rmeains of another planet cracker ship, and apparently that ship found "the source" of the markers, which is that frozen planet, and Issiac is trying to stop the markers, and stop the Necromorphs, foreveah!

Not entirely serious, maybe.

And thus, the Dead Space inconsistency continues. With each game looking less and less like Dead Space.

But I can't say I'm surprised by seeing any of this. I already knew about the high-action, the lack of horror, the cover based shooting, the combat rolls, the QTE climbing minigames... But seeing it in action? it just looks so painfully bland and nowhere near as interesting as it's past titles. What a shame.

The only interesting aspect is the coop, and how it allegedly changes the experience. I'm not shelling out 60$ for that though.

Well I guess it's worth adding a full on co-op playthrough.

Gameplay looks far less systematic, line shooters and plain old bullets do nothing different, and limbs come off only after X amount of damage instead of being hit in the right spots, the suits aren't designed for function just flashy shit, no horror, no tension, just action to action moment, must have QTE, for some reason half the enemies are now goons with guns, and the second co-op character is a complete brain dead marine muppet...
I wonder what demographic they were aiming for.

Only thing that is really missing is a nonstop dubstep track.

I like how the first two games had a soul to them and while the first one was more akin to alien and the second was to aliens, they were ferpect. This one looks boring.

Like Alien 3.

So it's following a trend.

First one - Alien/DS1. Pretty decent with a good atmosphere.
Second one - Aliens/DS2. Still pretty decent but with added action.
Third one - Alien 3/DS3. You wonder why they are still making them if this is the best shit they can produce.

I agree. Even though it's all EA's fault and Visceral would never actually ask to do any of this, the demo still felt like RE6 did, it came to form with it's absurdity. And the first two games I thought were amazing, but with some seriousness at times there shouldn't be any.

In solo you can (it's a little hard though) go through the whole demo moving stealthily by the human enemies with the Necromorphs dealing with them. Just thought I'd say that. The weapons crafting is fun, too. No it doesn't belong in horror, but Dead Space wasn't about truly the shock factor to me. I also straight up refused to do the combat roll.

Anyway, I also dislike day one let's plays. I feel it's a combination of jealousy and a lot of people that do them I don't find entertaining. Game Grumps are kinda funny though.

Only played 1/3 of the first Dead Space and even then it wasn't scary at all. And then even second Dead Space came out. So how was still expecting a survival horror after two totally not scary games? o_O

I picked Game Grumps because
A: I find them rather funny, and given how depressing the gameplay of the video is, I felt that their ranting would at least make the first impressions video entertaining.

B: Because I made this thread for fun to discuss Dead Space 3.

C: Because I made this thread for fun to discuss Dead Space 3.

D: Because I made this thread for fun to discuss Dead Space 3.

In other words, quit your complaining and watch the video, comment, or leave. If I'm an idiot, then why are you wasting your time picking on one gripe you have regarding who made the video? People like Game Grumps. People are concerned about Dead Space 3. I put the two together.

Who gives a shit if I didn't mention other DS3 videos and their terrible gameplay? The video I posted kinda already showcases that, with the added bonus of being funny for people who like Game Grumps.

Sorry that idiots on the internet make life so hard for you. I bet you also follow around people who don't pick up after their dogs for hours pestering them.

Is this demo out for the public too? I'm checking the PS Store right now, because I really want to play this. It's the game I'm looking forward to the most out of everything at the moment. The co op looks like it will be a blast, and I've always liked Dead Space for the story. The games have their jump scare moments--and the situation behind them is utterly terrifying--but the games have never been scary to me. High paced panic combined with moments of utter quiet to keep the tension up, but never scary.

Who wants to play co op? Anyone?
