I'm dying to see a comic book "superhero" movie that doesn't take itself too seriously. I know there are a great deal of Deadpool fans out there kind of distraught at the superfluousness loads of detritus that Fox has created, but when do you think it would be a good time for Marvel to pedal this comedy candy to the masses?

I'm pretty sure Ryan Reynolds has been slated to play Deadpool in the movie in a while.
I forget where I heard about it, but I wouldn't be surprised.

By the time it's released, people with be collectively sick of Deadpool, so perhaps give it a few years, and stop cameo-ing him in every other title first.

I'd also be scared that the jokes would go the way of Spiderman's jokes in the films, ie completely missing.

I dont know if there would be one, at least from a US studio. Sure, he was in the wolverine movie, but I think the idea of him being uber Canadian is something that US people may or may not enjoy.

thn again, I could always be wrong.

I hope Ryan Reynolds does play Deadpool, and doesn't get ousted from the role just because he was a victim of a terrible film. I really admire him as an actor, he's just loveable...

No i don't have a crush on him! ... yes i do...

I hope it doesn't happen. Deadpool as a character is almost as over-saturated as Wolverine, and we all know how bad his film was.

Thank you. I'm really glad someone agrees with me. I liked Deadpool for a while but he's just not the same anymore. Also, I just can't stand Ryan Reynolds. Just me, but he comes off as too much of a tool for me to take him seriously.

That's just the way Marvel takes their characters. I feel if Fox were to take Deadpool, they'd go with the Cable & Deadpool direction moving toward schtick and slapsticks instead of actual humor and keeping everything in the Thor realm of "adult". If Paramount or Universal jumped on it though, I'm pretty sure they'd get someone who's expertise is dialog and they'd focus on a X-force, Weapon X, Original Deadpool face of humor. I think Kevin Smith would do well for writing the movie, he is ONLY capable of writing movies that require dialog.

Ideas for directors?

On the topic of saturated/overused characters, who else is tired of Spider-man?

How do you figure that one out? I'm not sick of him.

The only things I've been aware of him showing in are MVC3 and Xmen Origins: Wolverine (although that one doesn't really count). I just hope that the movie handles him better than MVC3 did; we get it, he breaks the fourth wall. But you can only break a freaking wall once, so don't make his every line a fourth-wall breaker.

I remember hearing it was due out in 2012...but this was back in '09, if that tells you anything.
I think to truly capture the essence of Deadpool, it would need to be an R-Rated Musical Adventure That's Fun for the Whole Family.

A deadpool game would be better, IMO. non stop, OTT action backed up by deadpool's typical comedic style.

But of course, they'd just mess it up. *grumble grumble*

It would be interesting to see a movie that breaks the 4th wall all the time. It probably shouldn't happen but because people would pay to see it it will likely be made. I hope that when it is made, it's amusing, action packed and above all not cheesy.

Not me. I'm only tired of bad things coming from Spider-Man. The character has been turned into a cash cow that is being used to sell games to stupid parents at Christmas time because they think their kids will like it. But there are the gems as well, just not enough of them :/

I'm not so much aiming at Sony milking the teets of bad writing and gimmicks, but I'm talking about Marvel actually creating something in the series. I miss Spider-Girl and the Scarlet Spider or good ideas that came from the bad ideas. I hope this Ultimate branding hype dies out already so we get something good.

See, you missed it. The Spider-Man movies were one big joke. ;)

Considering it's already planned and has been for a while....I'd assume you were wrong.

Besides, American media has co-opted other figures, why not a comic book character?
