That's Metallicas new album right?
Indeed it is. Features songs like Unforgiven 3, The Judas Kiss, The Day That Never Comes, Cyanide, etc etc. If you haven't got this album yet - go get it!

All I can say is thank god it isnt St Anger!

It seems to really drag its butt though... It seemed like it took forever to finish, some of the songs just felt like they went on longer then they needed to :|

Oh and I have to say one thing, it is now clearer than ever, that the worst person in that band is lars... The drumming was so bland and weak that whole album. Has he gotten lazy or what? He might aswell be playing for the white stripes :p

Oh and the lyrics need some major work, it seems like that just didnt do justice to most of the songs.

This album wasnt good, wasnt really bad either...
They seem to have taken a few steps back and it is like they tried to blend all thier sound from black album to st anger in one album...I noticed that alot of songs I was going "Oh that sounds just like such and such a song", it seems like trying so hard to get some of the "old metallica" sound in, just made me feel like they where just blatently ripping off thier own music, I guess this is to make alot of half brained idiots to think "Oh hey the new albumn sounds alot like the older stuff".

There where some ok points through out the albumn, and kirk still knows how to crank out an awsome riff, and this is really roberts first total album for them and I like what I hear...

But as i said Lar's drumming (ok we get it, you own a cymbol or high hat or whatever the correct drummign term is for that annoying noise he likes to have mixed so loud in the tracks) and Jame's vocals/lyrics really let this down. The albumn (thank god) wasnt totally horrible and a step in the right direction for them, hopfully they learn to take the good parts of the album and make they next album smoke like we know metallica can do!

I really loved the album, I got it yesterday. HMV had it on sale from Wednesday or so, I was told the release date was meant to be today.

My ears bled awesome, this is Metallica back on form!

The few songs I heard at least reminded me of the older Metallica I remember hearing as a kid,But it feels Metallica doesn't seem to give the same effort they did with say Ride The Lighting.

I generally like the album but I had the same feeling about the drums. Much more work could have been put into it.

The drumming on St Anger sounded like it was a wasp in a biscuit tin as long as they have fixed that I may borrow the album off a friend. But after them suing anyone that moved and having sold their soul to the corporate whore house, I will decline giving them anymore money

Got it Thursday, listening to it right now.

I'd say it's probably just above Load and Reload in my estimation. I'm much more of an old Metallica person, though. The drumming isn't horrible, but far from inspired. The solos by Kurt are absolute wank. I've never heard so many bad solos on one album in my life. If Dave Mustaine (an original member), was the lead guitarist now this album could be much better.

7/10: Nothing great, but light years ahead of St. Anger and, like I said, just ahead of Load and Reload.

If anybody needed to be told who Mustaine is then they shouldn't be in this thread! :D
Having said that, I don't have the album, yet. I ordered it but, after hearing a few songs on youtube, I wish I had just torrented. People seem to be giving them pats on the back and saying: "Good job, it isn't St. Anger"! Don't congratulate mediocrity. If this new album sucks then I'll just go back to listening to the first four.
