Defiance - Worth It?

Without the storyline it's an utterly generic third person shooter, with only occasional reminders that it's an MMO.
With the storyline, and the connection to the show, it could actually be quite interesting. Currently the relationship to the TV show is one-directional, with the 2 main characters from it appearing in the starting area, and occasional episodic updates bringing in content from later in Season 1.
They intend to have some way to make the game influence the TV show in season 2, but I have no idea how that would work.
Basically there are way better shooters, but the setting and plot are not bad at all.

Well if you ever wanted Borderlands to last forever minus the style and interesting parts then this is the game for you, otherwise I don't recommend it.
