Some sort of evolution.
We'll have lost wisdom teeth, one of the most pointless and downright fucking horrible things ever made. They do nothing but get in the way, so eventually they'll be gone.
Also, colonization of other planets.

Ah, here comes my super theory:

Well you see humans are the shittiest of all the creatures. (bare with me) You see our eyes, there are animals with better eyes, You see us running? animals are better at running. Even our 5 primary senses are bested by the animal kingdom. So why is it that we are the most powerful animal in the whole of the kingdom?

It's our brains. Our brains are the most complex and powerful thing a human has. So the only logical evolution is to improve our brains. We have no need for extra muscles, more eyes. Our life style doesn't require it. Eventually we will build technology to do everything for us while we grow huge brains and sit about. We will have chairs that do everything for us while all our withered bodies do is think and we create marvellous pieces of technology.

Eventually we will probably gain many powers that will keep us above the animal kingdom. Who knows maybe telekinesis and what not.

Well yeah, there is what I think is going to happen. Feel free to use my theory.
Telekinesis =/= brainpower. It's not associated, either.

But yeah, evolution, definitely. 2 million years ago, we were mostly homo erectus. So by the time 8 million has gone, whoo, we'll be epic.

I really wanna fucking know.

Smaller jaws because of softer modern food, the little toe is vestigial so well lose that, huge loss of muscle mass from being lazy idiots.

The Mantis Shrimp bests everything in the eye department, they fully see our understanding of the sprectrum of light, the to point were if you put them in a cage they can tell where the weak spot is and smash through it with their 22 caliber punch.

If they learn to breath air were doomed, DOOMED I SAY!.

Darn pretty silly essay topic but i will put my two cents in, I think we will either die off or evolve into several different breeds like species steamed from humans. My money is on dieing off whilst taking most life that we know at the moment with us.

I'm s'posed to make a essay* on how humans will be in about 8 million years.
It's highly likely that we won't exist in that amount of time, but still, and essay is and essay.
What a silly assignment...human beings can't predict shit.

But just for the heck of it I'll give you my "prediction". Around 2030 the Earth will be heavily overpopulated, natural resources will be even more scarce, food and clean water will be a growing problem. So we'll have a desperate free for all. The UN will be powerless, more or less the way it is right now and human rights won't mean a damn thing (even more than now).

How long to we have exactly? Not soon (even remotely soon), but doesn't the sun expand and consume planet Earth at some point? I could just be making this up, but I do feel like I heard it somewhere.

Of course the future of humanity is not necessarily linked with the habitability of Earth, but it's significant, I would think.

More OT: I don't believe in all that robot/cyborg stuff. I just struggle with the idea of 'true' artificial intelligence. Well, I can conceive it, but I don't understand how it could be possible.

EDIT:

I don't think humans'll have changed all that much.

I mean, natural selection doesn't really apply to the modern human now does it? Anyone can have a child.
True, except for those poor sterile/infertile folk.

But you would be really surprised by how predictive genetic testing is done on babies these days, and how much information parents can learn about their child before he/she is born. That's prenatal genetic testing. But then there's preimplantation genetic testing where couples can test their embryos for all sorts of information and then use that information to decide which one they want.

I came up with this on one of my mega thinks I have. Like how I came up with a full proof way to get away with murder, how to build the ultimate fortress, the best house and what not.

When I don't sleep I think and this is one of the things I came up with.
Well the Outer Limits is kinda like the X Files but good, in one episode an entire town gets abducted by Aliens because they've become so reliant on technology that they can barely lift themselves off their chairs due to muscle wastage. Marvelous tech yes but strong slaves are needed.

edited because I killed the quote function.

Assuming we are even able to survive that long we will have colonised large swaths of the galexy, Technological development will cease due to the simple fact it can go no further, and of course there will be wars between the different human worlds because we're jerks.

You are right, evolution is kind of halted. One thing I might preditc, we hardly will be extinct that easily as adaptability is the main key for survival and humans are among the most adaptable creatures.

As for people who say we are weaker and slower then other animals, I ask why even without tools our species then managed to survive last two ice ages when most other top predators, of whom originally we were prey, got extinct? Strenght and speed is not all, work as group and with ambush tactics also count, and humans are great at doing this.

I do predict like I think anybody will, thou that in the face of a major event human population will decrease substantially as probably our world population would be sutainable without intensive farming and animal breeding around 500 million individuals. Isolation is very unlikely too as humans are natural explorers and even if we loose all technology we will imediatly try to recover it, and looking for other settlements would be one of the first things we would do instinctively.

If we haven't killed each other off by then, We will either be the most god-awesome race to ever exist whic promotes peace and understanding while having in our possession XK Class end of the World weapons

, or we become the Imperium of Man, which is a nice second.

Positive feelings all around!

Does your teacher know sci-fi? Just tell him we'll all have been assimilated by Borg.

Or have encountered Turians :), leading to a long-term peaceful co-existence and the best buddy cop movie ever. I'd rather prefer that one myself.

I believe we will be able to gain immortality (We live forever, but we can get killed) but the reproduction terms would be extremely strict on earth. However, humans would inevitably have colonized a huge part of the galaxy. Since it's "infinite" there's a lot of room for 500000 billion humans.

Or we wouldn't exist cause we were wiped out by Marsians... o_O

Oh, why did we incur their wrath? WHY?!?!?
