Demon's Souls Starting Class?

So here I am at my grandmum's with nothing but my PS3 as I've not yet invested in a fancy PC and my other consoles are packed away while we're in the process of moving so I've decided to invest myself in an RPG for the first time in a long time; that RPG is Demon's Souls

Anyways, I was just curious what you other Demon's Souls players picked as your first class, what you think is the best class, and what the best for beginners is.

I picked Temple Knight knowing nothing about any of the classes, because generic "Soldiers" & "Knights" seem to bore me and I figured after hearing about how apparently hard the game was that a class like "Magician" or "Priest" would be difficult to start off with.. I've heard otherwise but I figured I could RP a "Temple Knight" if I wanted to so I stuck with that, though I don't find myself any Miracles though I suppose I only have two of them and it's pretty early in the game.

I went with wanderer not sure why but it was awesome since I would just roll and run behind to attack but after awhile (in ng+) it was diffcult to do anything so I switched to Magician and hot damn did I kick some demon ass nothing could get near me and now in n+ its still hard but not impossible

Royal.. you get a nice spell to use, and a ring with mana regen and a very low soul level so you can cater your char to whatever you want pretty much without fail.

I played started with a knight, managed to beat all demons single handily and beat the game twice and got to level 107 AND got the North Regalia. I would say i "OWNED" that game but the spider boss on the second level always gives me trouble.
Advice: SOUL FARM, both online and offline, plus use your blue soul gem every time you die, even if you dont kill the demon you can get a lot of souls usually.
Edit: oh yeah and in the first level try getting into the archer tower on your left, inside is a ring that allows you to maintain 75% health in soul form it really comes in handy.
