meh. it will be just another generic MP halo clone. basically halo mmo is what destiny is. plus no single player campaign = pass for me.
It's a first person shooter that DOESN'T have third person cover

I thought you'd be all over this
Its a multiplayer only game inspired by Halo. it play like any other console shooter with iron sight and regen health.i may give it chance if it has proper SP campaign.

plus game get announce and is going to release in few months. wow. a good game need additinal development time. same thing EA do. announce game with a release date. its basically copy and paste.
If I announce that my partner and I are having a baby in 6 months, does this mean we decided to rush job it, or simply not talk about it until we were confident about the outcome?

I got some enjoyment out of Destiny, so I'll give this a chance. And a PC version means I don't have to start a PS Plus membership, so that's an immediate improvement. I'm not pre-ordering it or buying it Day One though, just to be safe.

Wait, a first person cover shooter that...doesn't entice B-Cell?! WHAT IS THE WORLD COMING TO?!?!

Do you really think they're only starting to work on it now?
they dont but after announcement. it need more additional times since sequel was just release in 2 years ago. come on.

Doom got announced at e3 2014 with teaser, then show gameplay at E3 2015 and finally release in 2016.

COD, destiny, BF, AC always announce with release date. they dont have additional time because they just copy and paste. good game need atleast 5 years development period.

because my friend, good game need longer development period of time. not like game released in one year and they start working on sequel and release next year. why are other companies other than EA, activision, ubisoft have longer development period? yet games from these 3 giants are always turn out rehashes. I have been waiting for new metro game reveal but that didnot happen last year and may happen this year because its been in development since 2013 as 4A games claim its going to be non linear and sandbox.

I would be dissapointed if doom sequel announce this year E3 with release date. it need new engine and longer development cycle. look at evolution between half life 1 and half life 2.

also you should have used the word wife my friend. because partner mostly refer to business partners.

B-cell only likes FPS of "ye olde school." Y'know, no regenerating health, no iron sights, no cover, etc.

What are you on about?

Work on Destiny 1 began in 2010, and was released in 2014. Work on Destiny 2 began in 2014, and is set for release in 2017. Where does 2 years factor into any of this?

Okay, and...?

Not counting the original Doom 4, development of Doom 2016 began in 2013, and was released in 2016. Both Doom and Destiny 2 have a 3 year development cycle, which is also the same development cycle as Call of Duty games.

If history has shown us anything (hello, DNF), a longer dev cycle doesn't necessarily mean a better product. Now, whether Destiny 1/2 are good or not is another matter entirely, but the dev cycle comes off as being perfectly adequate in of itself.

You're contradicting yourself, you're saying a GOOD game NEEDS 5 years of development yet you praise DOOM 2016 even though it clearly had around 3 years of development.

Doom was in development since 2011 when its development restarted. it was just announced in 2014. unlike EA and activision game announced and release in same day.

According to this DOOM 2016 was rebooted in 2013.

Also there's seriously nothing wrong with announcing a game near release, I'd say that it's a big plus.

only if game is in development for few years. not like COD or AC when previous game just released 2 years ago.

This is good news for me. I love loot shooters (Borderlands 1 and 2 and Fallout 4 Survival are a couple of my faves). As a PC only fella I was always curious what all the hubbub was about. Looking forward to finding out.
I'd give it a wait and see if thats what you're looking for. They kind of had a problem with having very little worthwhile loot and then nerfing what little they had into absolute garbage in short order if it was any good. Probably mostly in the weird attempt to merge shoot and loot pseudo-MMO with a twitch based loot-independent Vs mode.

tl;dr - Destiny did not do loot very well, considering it was a loot grinder. Very little unique feel or builds to anything, and most "better" loot was just a case of "Well, you can do more then 1 damage to the next 2 levels of enemies now"

But this is a thread about Destiny 2, which probably been in development since the first game came out 3 years ago. A game being bad because it's announced pretty close to the release doesn't make any sense.

It's the cinematic reveal trailer setting the tone for the game by bringing attention to Destiny's two largest demographics, the players who are into the rpg side of the game and religiously study the lore, and the bros who play for loot and having fun through a surprisingly funnybtrailer. But it shows no gameplay so it has no place on the Internet and Destiny 2 sucks confirmed I guess
Nintendo is actually pretty good about not using cinematic trailers. I remember the announcement trailer for Xenoblade Chronicles X was straight gameplay, and the trailer after that as well. In my experience, all cinematic trailers do is prevent information from getting to the consumer, that's it.

...da fuq?

Give me one example of a AAA game that was announced and released simultaniously.

For quite awhile, every CoD game has had a three year development cycle, alternating between Infinity Ward, Treyarch, and Sledgehammer. Not sure about Assassin's Creed, but I do know that by the main series, Unity had a four year dev cycle and was developed by Ubisoft Montreal, while Syndicate was developed by Ubisoft Quebec. Now, how you feel about these series in terms of quality is another matter, but you've made demonstrably wrong claims in stating that these games have had short development cycles.

No probably about it, it's been outright stated to have begun development in 2014. Bungie added content for Destiny 1 while developing Destiny 2 separately.

Personally, as someone who's played Destiny from launch to present (albeit sometimes somewhat reluctantly, my friends are far more enamoured of it than I am), I pretty much thought the reveal trailer was shite. Overall it didn't tell us anything that wasn't long rumoured, it certainly didn't tell us anything about how Destiny 2 will be compared to Destiny 1 -- beyond that "Hey, here's a reason nothing whatsoever will carry over from the first game" -- and it gives me every reason to think Bungie is going to continue to make the mistake of Telling, not showing, as their primary story mode -- as much as the game has a story or any meaningful lore.

Beyond that, the tonal shifts just weren't very clever, IMHO. I'm not really even sure who the trailer was aimed at, beyond hardcore fans who were going to nerdgasm no matter what.

I dunno, maybe it's just me. I long ago grew weary of both Nathan Fillion and Cayde 6. The character had his moments -- most of which, IMHO, was when paired with Eris -- but now it just seems like they lean on using him as a way to engage the playerbase because he's the only character they get a positive response from.

Hey, Bungie, maybe that's because he and Eris are the only characters that, well, have any discernable character whatsoever?

Meh. I'll no-doubt end up getting Destiny 2, thanks to my aforementioned Destiny-obsessed friends, and in many ways Destiny 1 is an amazing games. It's just that in just as many ways it's a pretty terrible one and so far I'm not seeing anything to convinced me Bungie knows how to, or is even interested in, fixing that.
