I REALLY need some advice. I've been playing Deus Ex for the past few hours, when I noticed that I really suck at this game. It's gotten to the point when I'm quick-saving before attacking ANYTHING. I get caught most of the time that I sneak up on an enemy, and am getting completely lost. I'm at the level where you blow up the NSF's generator, and it took me two hours to get in the building, and another half to figure out how to blow it up without killing people (it seems you can't without taking out the 4 or 5 guys and dragging their bodies away, while I can't get one without the others spotting me. Is there some sort of weapon I should be using, or some sort of mechanic I should be exploiting?

If this is your first time playing, I'm surprised you made it that far before asking this. I couldn't finish the first level until last year.

All I can say is don't worry about getting a no-kill playthrough on your first go at it. As stupid as people say it is, I had a lot of luck sniping with the tranq cross bow and just running away after landing one hit. The AI isn't a very good shot, so you usually can hit up to 3 guards before they get too close to damage you. I did have some skill points placed in Pistols though.

I'm playing as stealth and, preferably, non-lethal on the medium difficulty.
I know I can't take everyone out in stealth, I was saying that to not kill the guards in the area, I would have to knock them out, and drag their bodies away from the explosion that the generator makes.

There are numerous ways you can trick enemies into moving where you want them too. Shoot a wall with a tranq dart they walk up to it to check it out or tranq an enemy that has wandered away a bit and the others will wander over to see what has happened. You can also give them a glimpse of yourself and they will freak out and come over to you.

I hope that helps.

You just have to be patient for the first 2-3 hours then once you have decided what type of character you are going to use then the game becomes pretty fun. I struggled to really enjoy it but after a while i got used to it and played it through twice.

I had a similar problem. I was quicksaving and quickloading all the damn time in that game.

At that point, I had more or less given up on non-lethal kills because of how shit the tranq darts are (you need to have pistols maxed out and get a headshot with them in order to knock them out in one shot, or so I read somewhere), and the stun prod doesn't have much ammo...

I think the best plan is to use a stealth pistol or cross bow for silent kills, until you manage to whittle down the enemy numbers to just one or two, which you can then club over the head.

Also, FYI, later in the game, the assault rifle is ridiculously good, and there will be a melee weapon you can pick up that you WILL want to keep, since it's...it's...yeah, I'll let you see for yourself.

I wish you luck. The game is damn good, but it is a bit clunky at times.

Simple

ITS NOT CALL OF FUCKING DUTY.
Stop running around guns blazing thats not how you play it. you have to use tactics and try to use cover and be smart about what you do.
Adam isnt a mindless drone soldier that can run around with an AK47 or M4A1 and just blast people away.
Hes a professional, so act like it in game, think like Adam's character portrays.
Um... wrong game.

We're talking about the original.
