We have never said anything about discontinuing that title but for some reason that's the rumour out on the market," Matsuda tells GI.biz. "What I can say is Eidos Montreal has always developed Deus Ex, and the issue is we do not have limitless resources. We have several big titles that we work with and that's partly a factor in what our line-up looks like.
If its true then i hope they will not repeat the same mistake as they repeat with mankind divided. it could have been something special if they didnot cut game into half.

Original and HUman revolution are some of my fav games of all time while original bieng top tier.

not impressed by mankind divided much.

You assume Square Enix will learn the lessons the fandom wants them to learn. And maybe they will.

Or maybe they believe their mistake was that they didn't double down enough on the AAA bullshit.

Square Enix may not have abandoned Deus Ex, but that doesn't mean the fans will get what they want.

Fyi, the word you wanted to use is 'source', the thing or place from which something comes, arises, or is obtained. Sauce is a (semi)-liquid food you serve in or on other foods.

Although I think using 'sauce' instead of 'source' is funnier and probably much more delicious.

It is?
Anyway, that's dumb, but in a vaguely amusing way. Perfect meme material, in other words.

So, not put off by that whole missing 20-25% of Human Revolution (later brought to you as DLC) in the middle there?

Mankind Divided may have been chopped up, but at least the piece you got was continous.

Ok, serious question time!

How different are post Invisible War Deus Ex to original Deus Ex.

I love the first one but haven't played those after IW. Mainly because I've heard some rumors about console-ization.
Quick-time events, sticky wall cover/chest high ones, etc.

Original is still best.

IW was garbage and worst in series

HR was amazing game and one of the best game of last gen.

MD was once again dissapointment compare to HR.

i guess next one will be good again.

Haven't played the older games but I enjoyed both Human Revolution and Mankind Divided. MK definitely felt cut short and rushed but it is still a pretty fun game in my opinion. you get all the same stealth, combat, and hacking dynamics as HR and it's gorgeous to look at. It was just hamstrung in development by the publisher.

Its not as bad as everyone says, but it is not as fleshed out as the original. I would rate Deus Ex as a 9/10 and IW 7. The later two can have 8.5

That is a distinctly non-denial denial. "We never said we're giving up on Deus Ex until further notice, but we are giving up on Deus Ex until further notice."

Hopefully the next game is complete and they don't force them to stop essential bug-testing for the last 2 weeks in order to bolt on crappy microtransations.

I mean, I really enjoyed my time with Mankind Divided, but between it feeling like it was missing one more infiltration mission somewhere in the middle, and the jarringly mis-timed animations when speaking, and the sudden cliffhanger type ending...It felt incomplete and rushed. :s

Honestly, I think the thing that really saved Mankind divided for me was the final mission. THAT is how you end a Deus Ex game, not the zombie horde thing.

Still a solid and fun game, but not as well paced and as well executed as Human Revolution (Minus the shitty boss fights and the crappy final mission). I'd actually like them to continue the story, and wrap it up properly.

I never said it was a good chunk, but the "Chapter Missing" that magically shows up as DLC later is prettymuch the cardinal sin of Season pass type stuff. Could go back and forth speculating whether it was or wasn't part of the main game, cut for a deadline, or cut maliciously.

HR might not have had its narrative quite as mucked about as other high-profile cases like AssCreed 2 (where the ending is just this mess of "What the hell is going on and who are these people and why are we friends" or Vanilla Destiny 1 where the first 24% of the game is a questline that just dead ends. But its the same ridiculous practice.

My opinion as well. Human Revolution didn't quite capture the magic of the original Deus Ex but it was fun and had excellent atmosphere aided by a really decent soundtrack. It felt like a gloomy Blade Runner-esque future. And Adam Jensen wasn't bad as a protagonist either. I enjoyed Mankind Divided but missed the extra hub worlds. Running around a cyberpunk Asia was a highlight of HR. Plus the guy who did Sarif's MD voice doesn't compare well to Stephen Shellen. No offense to the new guy.

They should also just do away with multiple choice endings. It's a cheap way to make the user feel like they had some sort of individual impact on the output of the game which is almost never true and feels like a poorly-aged holdover from earlier games. Even with games like Deus Ex where you can be a sneaky bastard or just run in like a maniac and shoot everything that moves, you're still limited to the various paths the designers left you so it's a false illusion of choice. Have some confidence in your ability to write a competent ending that you think your protagonist would choose.

Usually all it means is that people reload the final save to try all the different endings so they can see the different cutscenes (which are almost always disappointing anyway).

MD wasn't bad, could have been great, if it wasn't so focused on the terrorist plot behind the trainstation bombing. Human Revolution really delved into it's cyberpunk themes but MD much less so and felt more like any detective story. The fallout of the augmentation incident that ended the previous game also dragged on and missed the mark by trying to align it with contemporary debates about racism and discrimination. I also had a hard time believing Prague was at the center of this. If they wanted to accentuate the augmentation incident they could have just stuck to Golum which told the entire story in a much more concise manner. Other than that though the story and themes of MD weren't exciting, the characters were boring with predictable motivations and the gameplay was also still the exact same as in 2011. Not a bad thing per se but I expected more from a game 5 years in development. MD was obviously intended as one half of a much bigger game but I think the devs definitely overshot their ambitions here(either on their own accord or demands by Squeenix).

It's cool to see Squeenix hasn't pulled the plug on the franchise entirely but considering a new game isn't on their list of priorities the next Deus ex is most likely still a long, long way off. By that time nobody cares about HR or MD anymore so it will probably be an entirely new set-up.

Oh good! mayhaps now they can give the fans the third part of that story they arbitrarily divided up. Seriously, the one-two punch of having one game cut in half so they could sell fans two games, and then having the second half cancelled because people got sick of their crap really soured me... but it's a testament to how great those games are that I'm genuinely excited to get to play more of them.

Here's hoping this works out in the best possible way, with a minimum of publisher crap.

"Shelved indefinitely to work on cash-cow IP" certainly isn't technically "dead" of course, but it sure ain't classy for the second part of a narrative that was split in two solely for extra tasty profits with a cliffhanger at the end that clearly resolved nothing, but desperately needed to be the all important *sequel bait! We got a sequel you gonna want to see, oh yes you will! Hang on, maybe not, nevermind, this isn't making the money we'd hoped. Scrap that. How about all those superheroes though?*
