So close but yet so very far from now. Blizzard likes to keep their release dates under wraps and most likely we wont know until about a month before it drops but I am betting on summer or winter 2011. Anyone got a better guess than that?

And with Blizzard now being bought out by... (Activision I think?)do you think they will mess up the game or try to put their own input into it?

What worries me the most is that AV will make users pay for online play on Diablo 3.

Well im pretty sure they are gonna charge for online play since blizzard already announced that any battle.net services released in the future will have some sort of monetary system connected to them and Diabloe 3 is probably gonna come out long after SC2 and blizzard takes forever to make anything my guess is at earliest fall 2012 and expect some sort of fee to play online for both Starcraft2 and diablo 3

November 2009.

Oh and it's called Torchlight and it's really good but you can't play it online yet.

Well SC2 is set to release next year.

I am going to buy D3 no matter what cause D2 is easily in my top 5 most amazing games ever made by the hand of man.

Still D3 is a long shot from WW. Very different play styles, D3 is very linear and I could not see them being able to justify making us pay for a game with very limited options. WW is very expansive and has tons of play options but with Diablo it's pretty much a straight shot.

Blizzard don't do 'release dates'. They do 'when it's done'.

But what you can be assured of is that it will be done Soon. [http://www.wowwiki.com/Soon]

Just like with starcraft 2, most of the game will be done at least a year before release. They will pay people to play it over and over to identify every conceivable balance issue and exploit, because all blizzard games eventually become horrific bawwww fests for competitive players, and they'd rather work the little things out before having to read and respond to two million "OMG BARBARIAN IS CHEEETZZZ" posts.

That will happen anyway, of course, but at least it will be baseless.

Blizzard has gone through other owners before Activision. I don't think we'll see anything bad from it.

Yeah I'd say 2011. Which means 10 years between games. Same with Starcraft. WoW really ate up their time...

If they charge for online play in Diablo 3 you can count me out. You don't just ask someone to pay for something they've been getting for 10+ years for free.

Activision didn?t buy out Blizzard they just merged coz of the financial crisis.
they hardly have anything to do with each other, they more or less just got financial backing from each other as well as the ability to borrow creative teams etc.

Yea, but tell that to the tin foil hat crowd.

I have no real desire to ever play Diablo 3, to be honest my console games are much more appealing to me.
