Diablo III for PS3 - What am I missing?

I played a lot of TL2 and Sacred 2 but gave Diablo 3 a miss because of online requirements and doubts wether my PC could handle it. Recently I found the UE edition for ?33, so gave it a shot. Offline support, butter-smooth gameplay, controller support, loving the game so far.

However I found out after the fact that Blizzard doesn't update PS3 and X360 versions, so we're stuck with 2.0.6 while PC is about to get 2.4. Since I'm new to the series, the Tormentum-Horatium-Legendary-Megarift lingo is a bit overwhelming, so I wanted to ask those who are familiar with the game, are the additions from 2.1 onward enough to consider buying it for PC?

Do you have to be super-hardcore to appreciate the impact of the changes or would I, as a casual who's most likely to move on after making it to 70 with a couple characters, would fail to notice them?

Thanks.

I think it costs money to update games on consoles. That may be why. It may not be worth it to release all these updates to them. Don't quote me on that though.

You talk about last gen, i don't think they updated it on current gen consoles either did they?

Xbone and PS4 are getting all the updates, AFAIK
Correct. Current gen consoles are on par with PC updates.

And yes, OP, you're missing quite a bit. There are all kinds of new items(and changes to current gear), new places, monsters, modes, and skill changes.

A good bit of it is for people that get more in depth with their builds, but there is also a lot that a "casual" player would enjoy.

It all comes down to one question really. Can you live with being limited to doing millions of damage instead of billions of damage? That's the net difference between RoS 2.0.X and the current game.

Judging by the way you've described yourself: no, I wouldn't say you're missing out on much...certainly not enough to warrant buying the game again on a different platform. Pretty much everything that gets added to the game these days is post-game content. Once you've already got up to lvl 70 and have yourself some rockin' gear, then you can go take on these various challenges/modes to get yourself even sweeter gear.

But if you're likely to play the game through just for the experience then lay it to rest once you've reached the level cap, then no, there really is no point in concerning yourself with the additional content they're putting out.

Oh well, I'll just keep trucking along (Just killed Maghda, I suppose that's early Act 2) and by the end I'll see how much I'll want to keep on playing it.

It's a sweet game, all things considered. A pity Blizzard went through so much effort to try to sabotage the experience.
