Did anyone notice the used vita price INCREASE?

So I went to my regularly mandated Gamestop counselling session, and happened to inquire on the current used/refurbished ps vita prices and noticed that the price had increased since my last visit from $185 used to $210 (and still doesn't include a memory card). Which is pretty weird considering that in Japan (and only Japan), Sony is dropping the price of the vita. So I really wasn't expecting a price increase.

So wtf happened? Was there a subsidy that ran out or something? Or has supply of functional used vitas dried up and the price went up to respond to the utter lack of supply? I am leaning towards the latter, because both the gamestops in town don't have any used vitas to sell and they said they hadn't gotten any in from corporate since before Christmas.

Gamestop wanted some more money so they bumped the price, that is all there is to it.
A quick glimpse to ebay shows new Vitas go for $215 and old ones for $160, so I suggest you reconsider your choice of shops.

I would, but I'm rather tired of the complete lack of socialization that working overnight shifts brought and liking games, I started hanging out at Gamestop just to meet fellow gamers in person, because hanging out in Walmart just feels creepy. Maybe I'm just lucky that our store has this guy that pretty much runs the place and he's conscious of the Gamestop BS and actually tries to find out what the clients want to buy and then recommends games that cater to them, rather than just spouting off random games like "hey did you know Destiny is coming out sometime this next decade? wanna pre-order?" He's more, "hey, I see you've been buying all these jrpg's, have you heard of this one...?" I'm just blown away by actual customer service. maybe its just a product of the small town/city that is Cheyenne, WY (65k people), but this place is really cliquish and if you don't know people, you don't get invited to any gaming groups. Yeah yeah online and all that, but there's nothing quite like a group of real people playing games.

So anyway, yeah, I get that buying online is cheaper and I've done that ever since I first got internet. And it looks like Sony likes shitting all over American gamers. So I might just buy a Vita when more games come out online. But I still want to go to a store where the people actually know me and give a crap if I like a game or not. Even if I only buy games there it feels nice just having someone to talk about games in person with someone that's actually willing to long distance order you a game from another state or two.

Just something about Customer Service that makes even a crappy place like Gamestop feel welcome.

I just bought one on amazon for 170 USD. Considering the amount, $30 extra isn't a huge price increase for something so expensive an investment. Maybe people are starting to buy them now that the dust setteled??
