does anyone know if the vote counter was ever fixed and if there is any chance valve made a comeback?

I was able to squeeze myself into the thread once and found that valve won by a few thousand. Not able to see anything else though.

at the current moment, valve is inhead in votes and voting is closed. whether or not they all count (I don't know if anyone was spamming) and who used twitter come into play, but there's a good chance that Valve won.

According to P.R.I.A.T.E they're currently leading in votes.

Shame really. Digital distribution is the enemy and all that.

I agree, but have you ever heard about "the lesser of two evils"?

Digital Distribution will ruin gaming. Virtual Farming will just steal peoples money.

Now if you excuse me, my tomatoes are ready.

This gets blurted out rather commonly around here. Elaborate, mebee?
For the sake of convenience, people are trading in their freedoms.

Read some Experienced Points articles. There's just so many things wrong with Digital distribution.

Yeah, Valve is up by a couple of thousand, although the Twitter votes are being done as we speak.

That said, I think Valve got far more Twitter votes anyway, so rejoice!

So I'm not just an old fogey for insisting on having a physical copy of any game I get?
That's part of it, but having a physical copy also means that you have more control over what you bought.

Nope.
You are an old fogey though. XD
Plus I like having a disk and manual. Love sniffing the manuals.

OT: I have heard Valve is winning but can't confirm as my internet made of string and silly putty can't handle it.

I'm just glad this whole Zynga vs. Valve thing is over. Just one more match up, and March Madness can be over and done with.

In order to be more on topic, i will say this; when I finally got into the thread, valve was winning, 25677 to 22470. However, I believe that they still need to add the twitter votes and subtract any multiple voters. Best of luck to Valve.

I have to agree with his articles because they are truth incarnate 99% of the time, but there are some benefits to Steam. And I refer only to Steam in this case. At the moment (disregard the future of DD) Steam is essentially a cleverly disguised DRM and money making machine, devised by Valve so that people can't steal their material. While this sounds quite evil you have to look at it from different angles.

You get a profile, steam friends and a whole network with which to communicate in-game or otherwise. You have access to weekly deals that are cheaper than anywhere else and your games are compiled in one program, so they are easier to find. Try to look at is as beneficial to you and not as a hindrance. Although I did buy the Witcher recently for ?30 and then it was ?16 the next day. That really annoyed me.

Anyway, what it is right now is ok. They offer you features to compromise with their DRM technology. It is what it could become that worries me.
