Pokémon, didn't play any digimon games, didn't watch any digimon movies, pokémon, pokémon, pokémon, and pokémon. Didn't like digimon anywhere near as much as pokémon as a kid surprisingly enough.

Tv show: Digimon. Not as repetitive. Has more plot.

Games: I'd say Pokemon even though repetitive, but this category may be heavily opinion based.

Movies: Well, Digimon only has a few epic movies and the others are more just long specials, so I guess Pokemon wins on epicness, but I think the Digimon ones were better.

Monsters: Well, they both have a stupid idea of numbering them (Yes, Digimon acutally had numbers), but at least Digimon doesn't pretend there's a limit. Plus they speak english and cause quite a lot of damage (without being legendary), and can't be contained. So I say Digimon win.

Characters: Pokemon has no characters. It has Ash, Brock, plus random girl. Digimon had characters with enough definition that their crests actually made sense and even if certian characters fill the same role as a previous series they're sitll kinda different.

Overall Premise: Digimon sounds like it has more thought put into it, considering...where do you get meat in the Pokemon world? Pokemon doesn't acknowledge death...Digimon kinda does...well, it at least uses the word, and Tamers added some disturbing permanence.

Soundtrack: Uhhh...I don't know. Pokemon probably has more catchy tunes related to the games, whereas Digimon fans would argue over whether the english or japanese version had better music.

Death IS acknowledged in the Pokemon world. Lavender Town is a main example.

And I had the Digimon movie soundtrack in mind when I made the soundtrack category, it had some good music.

Dunno, I kinda like them both... (through the Digimon anime is currently better than the Pokemon one...)

Ok, that's a reaosnable comment.
Is Lavender Town the place they have graves?
I understand Pokemon using the possibility of death to make you feel sad, but it's rarely ever actually happens and if it does it's to a pokemon that only existed in that episode or movie, right?

I don't know, but there are many death references in the games. Humans die too.

TV show: This is the only area where Digimon clearly wins. The characters weren't nearly as one dimensional as Pokemon and the villains were actually cool and threatening.

Games: I loved me some Digimon world games, but Pokemon wins. Pokemon games are fun and addictive.

Movies: Digimon. If you don't believe me, go watch Digimon: The Movie. It's fun and hilarious.

Monsters: Hmmmm... Digimon, but there's a case for either. I like me some Weregururumon and Metalgreymon.

Characters: Digimon. Hell, even if all the heroes of Digimon were as bland as Ash Ketchum, the villains alone would still win it for Digimon.

Overall Premise: Pokemon. World filled with monsters for catching and battling beats crazy magical digital world.

Soundtrack: Tie. Unless we're counting the movies, then Digimon wins (the movie soundtrack had Less Than Jake for crying out loud).

Tv show:
Pokemon, though neither are great now that I'm older! Pokemon managed to capture my attention; Digimon made me leave the TV to do something else.

Games:
I've never played Digimon, but I doubt it could be better than the Pokemon games (main series; not the Mystery Dungeon series or Ranger games).

Movies:
I've only seen two of the Pokemon movies... I'm afraid I wouldn't rate either highly... >.<

Monsters:
Pokemon, although I'd only include generations 1 and 2, and part of generation 3 (Zangoose, Blaziken, Swampert...)

Characters:
I can't remember either series well enough to judge...

Overall Premise:
Equal I suppose. They're very similar.

Soundtrack:
The Pokemon Theme (series 1) takes me back, and the music in the games is catchy too. However, I can't remember any of the music for Digimon, and I haven't heard a lot of it...so I can't compare. :/

Tv show:
Digimon. I still watch and love it now.

Games:
Pokemon. I still have my gameboy colour with pokemon red and pikachu edition N64.

Movies:
Digimon, hands down.

Monsters:
Digimon, they were fucking sweet! Someone once drew me 4 panel of pikachu thunderbolting Wargreymon with it just bouncing off, then Wargreymon just stamps on him.

Characters:
Digimon, though no real justification other than "I liked them more".

Overall Premise:
Digimon. Pretty much the same reason as above.

Soundtrack:
Digimon, have you seen the soundtrack to the Digimon movie? It's awesome!

Tv show:
Is this really a question? Digimon's main claim to fame is the show, and it was really awesome for a kid's show. And it felt more like a "Kid's show from Japan" rather than, "A kid's anime." Not saying that anime is inherently bad, but being less into that genre made it more unique.

Games:
From what I've played, the games aren't anything special, but they are enjoyable and try to bring out the quirks that make the Digital World so fun in the show.
Like at one point, where you see a door across a chasm, and have to defy logic and try walking over the cliff to find that the prerendered background is really just a walkable texture. >.>

Movies:
Pokemon has some fun movies, then some really stupid ones. Digimon... HAS NINE MOVIES?!
Well, I haven't seen 'em, so I can't judge.

Monsters:
Ooooh, this is a tough one. Pokemon is pokemon. I'd say that overall, Digimon has a better-designed bunch of monsters and a lot of 'em, but Pokemon has the best if you can pick and choose. I still feel that Feraligator is one of the best monster versions of a real animal designs I have ever seen, however simple.

Characters:
Same as in the show category. Digimon has tons of fun characters. Pokemon decided that the cast needs to meet a new person every episode, so Ash's Facebook Friend's list makes him look like a desperate boy trying to look popular.

Overall Premise:
Digimon.
However, Pokemon is vastly superior at world-building, but that isn't a category. :/

Soundtrack:
Pokemon. It has some really good chiptune and tons of media and spin-offs to draw from, and the Americanization of Digimon is a bastardization of the already mediocre original.

Tv show: Digimon. At least it had a plot.

Games: Easily Pokemon.

Movies: Never saw the Digimon movie, so I'm gonna say Pokemon.

Monsters: I'd go with Digimon, but they have seriously different styles.

Characters: Pokemon gets points for Brock (who isn't in the show anymore...the hell?), but Digimon is better overall.

Overall Premise: Pokemon's premise is a lot more relateable.

Soundtrack: Never pay attention to music.

Tv show - digimon because you know a actual plotline.

Games - pokemon hands down no questions asked

Movies - digimon because it had a awesome movie the animation was glorious and it helped give even more depth to the overall story

Monsters - digimon (I find them more creative as they arnt all just cutouts of things around a apartment)

Characters - digimon (has character arks and development)

Overall Premise - digimon (actual plot)

Soundtrack - digimon hands down they got barenaked ladies less than jake etc

digimon 6/7
pokemon 1/7

Tv: Digimon. Tamers is amazing.

Games: Pokemon, even though they have made the same game for like 15 years. Digimon games are kinda lousy.

Movies: Digimon because all the pokemon movies are the same thing. Evil scientist wants to take over the world using legendary pokemon, pokemon gets med, Ash calms it down.

Monsters: Digimon because there is a lot more variation in them and their origins of why they exist are more interesting, rather then pokemon's they are around just because.

Characters: Digimon by far. They give their characters actual arcs of change and characterization. Pokemon characters haven't changed worth dick. Really Ash travelled the entirety of 4 countries on foot and is still 10 years old. Really?

Overall Premise: Digimon is just a lot more fascinating with its world and characters. Pokemon is just weird marketing nonsense. There are only 150 types of pokemon, just we forgot to mention the 4 other regions and 500 other types. That just slipped our mind oops.

Soundtrack: Digimon again because their is just a lot more range in what they have. Pokemon hasn't had a sad song since like season 1. Ya the Johto season opening was good, all the other songs feel the same and it reeks of stock music.

You mean, Lavender town which is just an excuse to put ghost pokemon in the game? Really only once in all of pokemon can I think of one of anything 'dying' (Marowak Cubone's mom subplot thing). Characters die plenty in Digimon and it actually has some gravity to it.

TV Show: Digimon. All of the series I've seen have stuck in my head, especially Tamers. I loved that series.

Games: Pokemon. I've never played a Digimon game, but I'm quite confident I would still prefer Pokemon.

Movies: Probably Digimon, I liked the first one (Digimon: The Movie) when I was little. Plus Diaboromon is awesome.

Monsters: Digimon. I just like them more.

Characters: Digimon, no question. The characters were actually fleshed out a bit, compared to Pokemon.

Overall Premise: Hmm... I have to give it to Digimon. Pokemon's isn't as interesting to me I guess.

Soundtrack: Since I can't remember much of the Digimon music, Pokemon. The theme song from the Kanto and Johto series are still stuck in my head today.

Shows/Movies/Characters: Digimon. The plot line was more progressive, characters were more involved and developed, and generally it was much better than pokemon.

Games: Pokemon. A lot of us (myself included) still play pokemon (many people even still play the TCG). Sure, there probably still are avid digimon players, but digimon games never were as varied or simply as good.

Music: Pokemon was more of game music, Digimon was more of real music. Both fit accordingly with their strong points (pokemon games and digimon shows/movies).

Monsters: Personally I'd say pokemon. There's just so much more variety and some undeniably awful ones, but just through sheer volume they tend to be better. Although every one of the original digimon was absolutely excellent.

Premise: Again. I'll say pokemon. It makes more sense to me, and it just seems more inclusive (after all, half a dozen kids have digimon, everyone can have pokemon)

Okay then. For the umpteenth time, but in detail.

Tv show: Digimon. It has more of a sense of Plot than Pokémon and endings.

Games: Tough for the sole reason of Digimon world, which was, and still is, awesome and that Pokémon is getting repetitive. But, I can't wash away the dirt of Digimon World 4 so I have to go for Pokémon.

Movies: WHY DID SABAN HAVE TO DO THAT TO THE THIRD MOVIE? IT WAS PERFECT UNTIL THEN! Pokémon wins for the derped english movie.

Monsters: Digimon, because A) You can understand them properly without the whole bullshit of "We understand each other even though we speak different languages because we've been together so long." and B) They can have awesome power without being a legendary, which aren't that Legendary when you fight with them.

Characters: BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Even if we only had the first series, Digimon would still win. It had to make arcs for all 8 of the children and it still has more development and characterisation than all the episodes of Pokémon thus far!

Overall Premise: Digimon's is to save the world while Pokémon's is to become the very best, so you get more suspense in Digimon since they're in actual danger. Although this is just the show, with the virtual pets being just Tamagotchi. Admittedly Pokémon does the save the world thing a few times, there's no threat to the actual Humans, with the fate of worlds on a sporting trainer battle, which is rather silly when you think about it. So, Digimon takes it.

Soundtrack: "I WANNA BE THE VERY BEST!" and the R/B/Y champion theme is the only song that stands out with Pokémon to me, and I watched up until Diamond! Digimon has the ENTIRE soundtrack of Digimon World and the openings in Japanese are just awesome.

Calumon: This was kinda obvious coming from you Jack.
