I got an original Xbox back in December, and I've been told that if I get an original Xbox, I need to get the clock capacitor removed. Well, I'd rather leave that to people who know what they're doing so I don't damage the console. I've been meaning to take it to a game store to have someone remove the clock capacitor for me, but it's been 3 months and I still haven't done so, partially because the weather has been kind of bad, partially because I've been busy. Do you know if game stores will remove the Xbox clock capacitor for me? And if so, how much will it cost?

I wouldn't bother taking it to a Gamestop or whatever your local equivalent is. The staff there aren't technicians, and even if they were, I doubt they're still offering repairs on a 4 generations old console. You might have more luck if you have a store nearby that specializes in retro gaming. Those often do offer repair- and/or modding services.

No idea how much it would cost tho. Probably not much, since it's just a simple desoldering job, should take like only a couple minutes at most. Most of the work and time will go into disassembling and then reassembling the console.

Gordon_4's advice is sound, tho taking it to an electrician is perhaps a little overkill, since anyone who knows how to solder will do. So long as either they or you know exactly which capacitor is the one needs removing.
