Normally, I leave the real world and my gaming life as two separate entities, one has nothing to do with the other, for the most part. However, in the past week or so the events perpetrated by the largest bank on Wall street has had an influence on my gaming.
I had a bank alt on WoW called Goldmansacks, a play on Goldman Sachs the bank. As I have followed the events that GS has been involved in and saw that they were jut plain rotten, I have since created a new bank alt and deleted Goldmansacks.
My question to you, fellow escapist, is this: Has a real world event ever affected the way you play a game?

Yeah, I guess it was a little wonky. Looking back on it, I think it was a rash choice.

I think it's pretty rare. Games have a long development cycle, so it's hard to be topical. If it happens, it's a surprising coincidence.

I don't respond to real life events, I use games to escape the real world after all.

Closest thing to a 'response' would be to use Flight Simulator 2000 to see if I could pull off a certain manoeuvre in a certain class of airplane.

After my voice changed, I couldn't hit the high notes in karaoke games as easily?

After I played my first musical instrument, (the drums) I could easily play expert in rock band 2 drums.

Also, after I joibed choir, I could sing the silent hil lhomecoming theme with ease.

It depends. I usually don't give a crap about NPC allied soldiers in a FPS game but I think the similarities to current conflicts in Modern Warfare made me try to keep the U.S. and British soldiers alive as much as possible.

Umm, I guess.

I was really angry Thursday night and yesterday due to something happening IRL so I was shooting up gangs in GTA to vent my frustration.
