For example, when I get off the bus and walk into school, my MP3 player is usually set to confident music with a strong bass beat, such as hip-hop or rap. When I'm pissed, heavy metal is my music of choice (Disturbed). One time, working on projects late into the night, I found myself repeatedly listening to Eye of the Tiger by Survivor.

If I'm sad, depressed and the weather is gloomy, I'll listen to something that is also sad and mellow. Or one of the few songs that can make me cry. For some reason, I like to wallow in my sadness...

Yes actually the problem i have though is that my MP3 player is broken and i cant turn off the shuffle so it takes me ages to find a song that suits my mood or the place.

Yeah all the time. If I'm working on something it is usally a soundtrack eg. Star Wars, Lord of the Rings or if I'm just bumming around doing nothing, I usally set all my music to shuffle. I have a "sleepy" playlist which has music which I listen to to fall asleep. Then I have my "oh god I'm so lonely" playlist which I listen to while sitting in the cold dark corner of my bedroom with only the broken pieces of my life to keep me company.

Sorry, but that's hilarious! You just made my day!

I don't have a specific playlist for that, but there are some songs I have which suit that mood. Great for crying your eyes out until you hyperventilate yourself to sleep.

Don't judge me!

Definitely---music has a strong effect on my mood, so I had to learn how to reverse-engineer that.

Heavy-metal type or something with a strong beat if I'm working on something that takes perseverance and mechanical repetition, but not much creativity. Classical music when I'm writing. Bach by preference when I'm programming. Soundtracks or musicals or other things when I'm doing chores or tasks that don't require that much concentration, because that way some of the concentration perforce goes to the music.

One thing that I sort of regret---I cannot work to music if it has lyrics, especially not if I know the lyrics. It can distract me too easily...
