Yeah, sure, I think everyone does ones in a while.. Just for the sake of being polite. I think it's an important part of our social interactions. I (usually) tell my friends and close relatives what I really think of their jokes or anything, but around people I don't know very well or at work I laugh/chuckle sometimes just to be polite

I try not to hurt their feelings if they are a friend, but if I just kinda-sorta know them, I'll tell them that they aren't funny.

Actually I don't, it's one of my more prickish qualities. If they're a friend I just tell them it was poor and we chuckle about it. If they're just an acquaintance I say nothing and then there's an awkward silence... yeah, I can be a douche

No. In fact, that's usually when I pull out my +5 Mask of Self Esteem Eradication. Apparently, I'm really really good at making people feel bad about themselves with nothing more than a single look.

No, I will not encourage bad jokes. All anyone will get from me is a blank look and maybe an eyebrow raise. I get accused of having no sense of humor when that happens, but I do have one, just not to unfunny stories or comments.

I used to when I was younger. But I haven't for years. It was a hard habit to break because the urge to be polite is strong. I will smile to acknowledge they tried to tell a joke but I won't pretend to laugh.

OT: Yeah, I have been known to chuckle to be polite, especially seeing as how most people have a normal humour system ... and I normally don't.

I often feel like I'm smiling or laughing to cover up my own social inadequacies and hide the fact that I have no idea what else to do and I'm terrified of making a situation awkward.

...so yes.

At work, when customers make some lame joke that I've heard fifty million fuckin times before, yeah I'll politely chuckle or smile and maybe joke back.
In my social life, only if I know that they chuckle politely at my occasional bad jokes.

All the time. Not outright laugh but something non-committal like "heh", and then I hope they get that I was just being polite and they aren't all that funny.

yes but I make sure I stare in silence for a few seconds so the person who said the joke knows how bad it was.

Not sure how to describe it. It's not something I've practiced or learned; it's just innate.
